There is an issue with Discovery, it has added a lot into the game but not led players like the single player vanilla did on a quest or mission, so new people get no real sense of the politics or environment...

(or experienced people who have just never been in Gallia or never played as Kusari)

I think there are far too many factions, not enough /restarts, and it would be cool if each time a player /restart they could follow a set story/mission via unique jobs given at the bases along the way and a unique news article to read giving them background knowledge and instructions.

Imagine a new player joins server, decides to play with a friend, they both /restart 'Gallia' and have little fighters, they read a news article for new players informing them briefly of the overall politics in Gallia concerning them.

It tells them to talk to 'NPC X' giving them 'Mission Y' that takes them to System Z. They get told to dock at the next station/planet in the Quest and they make there way around Gallia, meet other players, and at the end have a sense of 'belonging' and familiarity with that faction and RP.

Rinse and repeat for ever major Faction, creates fun for new and experienced players...

Instead what we have at the moment is an overwhelming amount of mindless missions and no Ridged Path for a player joining a Faction.

In my opinion it should be a linear path from /restart Liberty-Lawful to knowing all the Laws of Liberty, how to follow/enforce them, Why you shouldn't/can't just fly to Reinland and expect to dock there, and finally joining the Official Player Faction.

(basically by the end of the /restart Liberty-lawful Quest they should be then part of the Player Faction)

same with all the others...

What you all think?

Cycle official faction status between all individual groups once every month.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

That would not solve the problem of there being so many factions, and I believe people would have just as much fun with being part of bigger factions instead of forming so many tiny ones, even if it was mandatory when you choose to use a certain ID...

But that's a bit extreme...

How about people having to Apply in the Forum for a Clan tag that is then granted to them should enough people apply for it?

And instead the admins simply delete the unofficial clan tags from those groups that become too small.

Also I believe there are many clans that should probably band together into one bigger clan if they follow similar RP.

Reading infocards, rumors and news (at the bar) might help to get a clearer view of some things.
The devs did really a great job there. And I can imagine, that only a small group of players are actually reading all those infocards.

Yes their certainly is a great deal of material in the info cards, and thankfully after landing on at least one or two lawful and unlawful bases, in each house, lets you read almost all of the history.

But a "Story" or Quest to follow gives more incentive to pick up as much info as you can, to get to the next goal, and know why you are being asked to blow up a base or kill a guy from a particular faction...

For instance, Crossfire Mod has a Trail of Stories and Info leading you around Sirius and even into the Added Systems like Sol and Altair.
In Crossfire, you are given co-ordinates or clues to where need to go next, but not as directly as I would like and it's over great distances through all the houses.

If a typical Faction or House Quest led the player around their home system, taught them something and rewarded them with a pile of credits at the end, they would develop their RP based on that and become part of a Discovery Faction.

i'm totally agree with this brilliant idea !! let's start telling the modteam about this one !!!
BTW i think modteam should add "crazy difficult mission"
crazy difficult mission = PAY 20M or more ! lots of NPCs ( maybe include gunships ) !!!

WHY DONT MOD ADD SOMETHING LIKE SINGLEPLAYER STORY ???? ADD A TAKAGHI'S FORTRESS MISSION FOR EXAMPLE !!!

Feel free to start working on it then. I think you forget the dev team works for free and have real lives also. While the idea is indeed something I'd like to see - I'm not holding my breathe regarding our volunteer development team taking on such a massive project.

I would actually love to help with a project like this, writing the Mission text, Quest Directions and Story.
As for Coding and Scripting, I have not so much experience...:(

I wouldn't mind Donating some money toward Discovery actually... and if it was me developing such a successful Mod I would even be happy to keep working for free on it if it made people happy:)

So get to work writing mission text, quest directions, and stories. Saying you would love to help and actually helping are two very different things.

Donating money only really helps keep the server operational - it doesn't help the dev team develop new content faster because unless you can donate enough so they can work full time - their real job will always take priority.

Well I could write an example Quest/Story with the mission objectives and Destinations, but I would have to know it was not just going to be wasted effort, at least I would have something interesting to post up on the forum.
At best it would be the first of MANY that would be included in an update...
