Attempt to lucid dream:D

Now seriously, try to find a very nice position, I for example sleep on my face and not on my back and I try to imagine something that relaxes me or I try to imagine a dream, a story. This could help you too

You can't stop thinking, you can either do what I suggested above or try to concentrate or something simple, like your heartbeat, and try not to move or do something else

Drink alcohol until you pass out.

On a serious note, chamomile/peppermint tea is excellent for helping you to relax and to sleep.

Quote:how do you people do it?

every damn night my mind goes from thought to thought and i just can't sleep.

only thing that works seems to be nyquil, but i dont really feel like having to take that every night

and my liver probably doesnt either

Try lucid dreaming, your attempt of staying awake will tire you so much you'll fall in sleep without realizing.

I'll accept this much, sleeping is weird, when you think about it it. You get into bed, close your eyes and wait to pass out, for no apparent reason.

The best thing is simply not to think about it. The more of a 'thing' you generate around sleep, the more of an issue it becomes. About five years ago, I was having serious trouble with it and went to see a doctor, who prescribed sleeping pills... Which after four days I stopped taking. They made me feel drowsy and useless during the day, even if they did knock me out cold at night.

The thing which actually worked, was spending some time contemplating what it actually was that was bothering my mind enough to keep me awake. Those random thoughts which are keeping you up, are unlikely to be so random, and are more likely to be covering up some issue you're pretty concerned about, or alternatively they form some sort of pattern which leads you to whatever it is that's bothering you so.

At least that was the case with me... Once I kinda resolved that little crisis in my own head, having worked out what it was, I found that my brain was capable of shutting the hell up, and I started sleeping properly.

I still get the odd night where I don't sleep, but now I know what causes the sleeping problem, I can address it far more easily. Lack of sleep comes with a mind in some turmoil, in my experience.

Might not be true for you though, in which case, ignore all of the above.

Edit: This is flood. My advice is a claw hammer to the left temple.

Huh.

I'll think on the above and see if there's anything.

And then resort to the hammer later.

Good advice though dude. Thanks

What Joe said, however it's also important to maintain a healty diet (not gorging on energy drinks, and hydrating using water like you're supposed to) as well as a reasonable amount of exercise so that your body actually processes biological stuff.

Joe, you should know better. A power drill with an auger bit is far more effective.

Speaking of sleeping, I just felt asleep in the bath tub while taking a bath

Now, back to the topic, maybe sound is your problem, I for example sleep really well, but if there is a tiny bit of sound it's impossible for me to fall asleep, so that could be the problem for you too
