Is the construction kit out yet? I found Vanilla Skyrim hugely disappointing, really. The sense of epicness felt in both Morrowind and Oblivion is lacking. Also the fun of building and levelling a character isn't what it was in previous installments - it doesn't take long before you have one kind of ultimate kill combo, and then what you got left is to "dual class" to get another. Also some skills (smithing and enchanting) are way more powerful/important than others, so they basically become "must have" independently of what style of character you choose.
I was done with Skyrim a week after release, and now I am waiting for a mod that rebalances/revamps character development/levelling and makes everything more "hardcore" before I can enjoy the game again.

It's been out for quite some time now. Available on Steam for free.
You may have completed the main quest in Skyrim within a week of release. Actually being DONE with the game takes about 300 hours or <strike>so</strike> more. (On my second playthrough now on the 360 with a new character, going on a completely different path. Got married, playing a super assassin in Daedric armor.)

It was out two weeks prior to release on the 360:D
Also I feel the game offers less replay value due to the lack of attributes - it's only a matter of laying out your perks differently, and that's about that. To add to this, some skills are almost required if you want your character to be powerful: Enchanting lets you compensate for areas where you are lacking (my warrior turned super über mage with enchanting 100 and certain sets of enchanted gear, without me assigning perks to any of the magic skill trees) and blacksmithing lets you upgrade your gear no matter what class (unless you go strictly mage-in-robes, which sucks even with the relevant perks).
But thanks for the info on the construction set - I hope for a "total overhaul" mod to offer some "proper" replay-value.
I found two epic mods for Skyrim that allow you to forge the armor of the lich king and frostmourne(1), and how to summon army of dead(2). With nice combination of frost spells and shouts, enchanting and frostmourne...nothing can stand in your way

Other than looking cool - which it does - once you get your armor level at or above 567, you're limited anyway to a maximum of 80% damage reduction by armor. So whether your armor is 567, or 1567, it blocks 80% of incoming damage.
What makes it fun is having dual enchantment, so you get 50% of fire / 50% of frost damage blocked from one piece (like your shield), and 50% fire / 50% frost blocked by another piece (like your main armor).
Come here and breath on me, dragon, and watch as absolutely NOTHING happens to me from your fire / frost breath weapon! MUAHAHAHAHA! Who's your dragonborn Dovakhin NOW, bitch? See this mace? It's a Daedric mace, and I improved it with my base armorer skill of 100, after drinking two potions of restoration, two potions of fortify armorer, and wearing a full set of armor enhancing enchanted gear! Base damage if you drop it on your toe is enough to kill most people. And I'm wearing my enchanged gloves - plus 50% to one handed, with my enchanted ring and necklace - plus 50% to one handed, plus 50% to archery - on each of them, DRAGON.
Now who's the biggest badass in all Skyrim? Bowshot does 400 damage, mace does 250 ... c'mere dragon, I want your SOUL!
<cough>
Oh, I may get into RP'ing a little, eh? And I should note that I'm still only level 41 with the character mentioned above ... :)

Version 1.6.87.0.6 was released as a Steam beta update on 05/24/2012.
Mounted Combat - Skyrim now allows you to do melee and ranged combat while riding a horse
So, you want to shoot arrows while riding your horse? Or swoop down with your sword? Cool.
I think I broke the run through I'm currently on - only level 50.
But due to a couple of things - only wearing leather, mind you - my base armor class is 3.4 million, carrying capacity is 4 million, my health and magic are both at 3.4 million, and they both regenerate at a rate 2.5 million percent faster than normal. Oh, and I'm 3 million percent better at picking locks, and I sneak 3 million percent better.
Just for the heck of it, I did the shout sprint off the top of High Hrothgar and sailed into nothingness ... fell for like 10 seconds, hit the ground and ended up with no damage.
And that's all on the Xbox - NOT on the computer with the console. That regeneration potion bug can be nasty.
