Abdul Kazir was patrolling the dark corridors in the Hangar Bay 1 area.
This is Security Chief Kazir to Patrol-23, what's your status? Patrol-23 respond.
There was nothing but static coming from them
Something's not right.. Communications are cut-off or something's bad happened to them. Either way I better check up on them. It's all clear here.
Kazir after finished checking the minor details in Hangar Bay 1, he headed to Hangar Bay 2 to see what's going on and why Patrol-23 is not responding. On his way there, in a long dark corridor he sensed another presense nearby, it could be Patrol-23 so he went to check.
Sherman was checking his wristwatch for the umpteenth time when one of the security chiefs finished the rollcall. "Sir, twenty-seven of twenty-eight high-value individuals accounted for, and all office sectors reported full completion of assigned purge and burn duties. The only missing man is a high-level accountant in Financial R&D, and he called in sick today."
Felix nodded absently. "And the supplies?"
"We've distributed pistols to all the HVI's with training, sir, and all ten of us officers have civilian grade rifles and body armor, but.....power armor is going to be a tough nut to crack, sir."
"All right then, we best get these people.....well, the upper security office for now. That should hold out the longest...."
He sighed and shook his head. The lockdown would work against them.
He raised his voice to the crowd. "Okay, everybody, form up into a group and follow me, we've got to get-"
He heard the slight hiss of the heavy locking bolts receding into their slots from the door behind and spun around almost instantly.
As the foot thick reinforced alloy door slid apart, his first thought upon seeing the almost comically oversized barrel pointed directly at his head was that his death was not only going to be immediate and very very painful, but extremely messy to boot.
Even as he mind raced through the possibilities of any of his ex-wives giving him a half-way decent burial (slim to none on all fronts, mind you), he realized he wasn't going to die.
Not yet anyways. "Tammo!"
Tammo McIllheney, Admin Waterloo Station, Member of Parliament, son of the famed Rush line, and Trade Captain Extraordinaire lowered his rather large rifle and smiled. "Good tae see ye in one piece, sah. How's the work going?"
"Items 1-7 have been taken care of, I was just going to escort the HVI's to the upper security post and then start on the Rheinland uplinks. But you, I thought you were going to ride this one out on Waterloo and deal with the politics afterwards."
"Heh, I thought ye'd need soom heavy backup, so I pulled some family strings and stooped by Belfast..."
He motioned to the two men standing behind him, both of them also sporting rather large and fierce-looking weapons "Sae I came back to drop em off, and, fool tha' I am, overshot my departure point. The bloody Rheinlanders dropped the lockdown ten minutes intae the warm-up sequence fer the Courage and I got caught. So, I thought I'd come give ye a hand, sah. And uh...bit o a change in plans, see. The HVI's'll be goan on up to the executive docking bay, takin' shelter in my ship. She's got smuggler's spots and diplomatic immunity, dontcha know, may not do much but it'll be a far sight better than hunkering down and gettin run o'er by die Kriegsmarine. And Sherman.... you'll be going with them."
"Tammo, you'll need the hel-"
"Felix, Mr. Sherman, sir, you're the most valuable individual on this station. You get captured, e'ery single one of Interspace Commerce's secrets will lie at the Rheinlander's feet. Tis not a discussion, Mr. Sherman."
Sherman slid the rucksack off his shoulder and handed it to McIllheney. "Thrice-damn you, Tamm, you're always right."
He turned back to the crowd. "All right everybody, we're moving out. Stick together, don't make noise, and make sure you follow a security officer at all times. Drockh, Eberhardt, you two get rear guard, Sensicle, you're on point with me. The rest, keep these civilians safe."
Even as he shouldered his carbine, he felt the Rheinwehr training, now thirty years in the past, kicking in, for all the good it would do him.
Tammo nodded in approval. "My niece is on board, keeping the engines warmed up. She'll get ye all into hiding and safe. Once the lockdown ends, head for Waterloo. I'll meet ye there when I can. Luck, mate."
With that, McIllheney signaled to his two companions and they started down the auxiliary corridors towards the maintance stairways.
With a sigh, Sherman turned the opposite direction, and as he stepped out for the elevators, he grimly gripped his gun. This is definitely going to suck bad.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
Kazir stepped more and more into the dim corridor, tapping his holstered handgun. After a few meters more, he could notice a silhouette walking towards him, slowly. Given the current situation, Kazir didn't hesitate to draw the gun and aim at the humanoid which he couldn't appreciate yet, and the second after Kazir ordered it to stay on the spot, a muffled male voice replied.
"S-sir...? Chief...?" Kazir did let the figure approach him, and eventually holstered his gun as he noticed the '23' on the man's uniform. He then helped the Patrol 23 member to leave the dark corridor back to the main connectiong between the Hangars 1 and 2. He looked shocked, showing a hematoma on the right cheek. "Th-they knocked down the rest of the patrol squad before we-we could do anything, sir. One of the did hit me with a stun b-baton, Sanders shot the bastard and bought me time to escape, le-leaving them behind."
After completing his quick sweep down the hall Frederick turned his battle-suit around and waited at the cargo elevator slaving its controls to his neural interface muttering, "Well that will at least let me intercept anyone that tries to use this thing..."
Frederick comms Voss, "Hansel this is Krieg Schwein, I'm holding position on der lower Residential area und waiting for support before advancing. Do you know when I can expect some? Also we're in control of der Cargo Elevator feel free to use it. Over."
Frederick stood imposingly in front of the cargo elevator doors, his mech silent as he was no longer walking about.
When he heard the distinct crackle of his internal comm-unit he paused in the corridor and holstered his baton.
"Krieg Schwein this is Hansel, Elements of Alpha Platoon will be diverted to your area as soon as possible, however it will take time to free up the manpower from the upper levels, your objective is Intersection Alpha in the Residential Area, be advised it is a high-traffic area and there will likely be plenty of resistance, however that intersection must be secured due to it's strategic placement. Hansel out." he replied before switching his frequency to the Alpha Platoon's frequency.
"Alpha this is Hansel, requesting diversion of units to Krieg Schwein's location, freight elevator is to be used." he briskly ordered, his eyes taking a brief glance down the corridor, checking for uninvited 'guests'. Thankfully most of the doors in this corridor were locked and keeping their inhabitants inside for the duration of this lockdown. The elevator behind him came to life as two marines stepped out, the very ones that he left behind and took up covering positions on either side of the elevator's doors.
His comm-unit came to life as Alpha Platoon received the request.
"Affirmative Hansel, diverting a squad of Marines to Krieg Schwein's location, eta two minutes. Alpha Out."
Kazir looked at the officer reliefed, free from the bad thoughts that were haunting his mind earlier
It's good that you atleast managed to escape but there is no time to sit and chat, we must leave before they catch up to us. We'll head to the main offices two decks from here and meet up with the security that is guarding that area.
It was a long trip to Deck 6 and with the lights out in their area, it'd be hard to escape from that deck. The plan was to reach the junction where the lifts were at to see if the big blast door was sealed or not. Patrol officer was staggering behind and that slowed them down and soon, they could hear the marines closing in.
Hurry up, at this rate they'll catch up with us and who knows how we we'll end, in a coffer or in a cell. So start moving! Y-Yes sir.
They reached the blast door where their would find the salvation. Unfortunately luck was not on their side and they had to override the control to open it before the marines get here. Kazir opened the panel and sliced a few cables to get the door open. The other officer was getting anxious because he could hear them coming, they were very close.
There, that should do it.
The door started making loud noises and opened just enough for a person to crawl to the other side.
They're up ahead, move on and capture them!
Time is running short, crawl to the other side quickly.
The officer crawled to the other side but by the time he did it, the marines were too close for Kazir to escape.
Quickly sir! Crawl to this side or they'll get you!
Get out of here, hurry up to deck 6 and find Sergeant Boss. Tell him to proceed with the plan!
Kazir looked angrily at the officer and ripped off everything that was behind the panel, forcing the blast door to close. Knowing what would follow after, Kazir grabbed the grenade he had hidden in his jacket and waited for the marines to come closer. They were just a few meters ahead of him, pointing their guns and ordering him to fall down on his knees and Kazir, with an evin grin, complied. Two marines went to arrest him but Kazir had something else in his mind.
He he he he...
He triggered the grenade and a loud explosion came out. Kazir sacrifised himself and killed the marines that were after him. The officer that was on the other side, heard the loud bang and was shaking in fear. The security chief died to the hands of Rheinlanders, he wanted to sit down and rest but he had to deliver Kazir's message to Sergeant Boss.
Taking a deep breath, the officer marched through the corridors leading to deck 6, now feeling even more shocked after his security chief blew himself up. He could hear people shouting at somebody else one floor ontop of him, blast doors opening and closing and maybe a distant gunshot.
He arrived at his destination, gasping as he tried to vocalize and ask for Sergeant Boss. His security fellow grabbed his arm and helped him to move into the office, finally meeting Boss, who turned to the officer. "Sergeant B-Boss... Kazir said... Kazir said..." Noticing Boss awaiting impatiently for the end of the sentence, the officer did breathe again. ""... Proceed with the plan."
"Alright. This is it, Kurtt. Remember.. Violence is last resort, or at least wait for my signal."
Kurtt acknowledged his words with a nod, and Franz squinched up his face attempting to adjust his glasses without the use of his hands. The doors open, and there stood one lone Mech with a marine operating the machine. He had heard the lift approaching already and had his guns aimed at the entrance, ready for anything just as they were. The two turned towards each other, nervous. Franz smiled shyly at the marine and simply said,
"Hi there!"
Kurrt had with his stern expression on his face, obviously prepared for the worst and ready to fight. While Franz stood there awkwardly with a weird looking smile, as if trying too hard to seem friendly.
"Kazir said to proceed with the plan..." Boss glared at him for a second and then with a sure look on his face told him to get some rest "Rest now officer, you'll be safe here for now." Boss thought how he should proceed to bomb the areas he had and then rushed to nearby supply room where explosives had been stored and without hesitation he grabbed them. All he had to do is plant the explosives in tradelane monitoring room that was located a deck above, a deck where Interspace security secured first because of all vital rooms were. After he reached the deck he moved to the room where the monitoring equipment was at. The guards when they saw him, looked him in the eyes as if it was to confirm something. "Interspace official business, you should go somewhere else and pretend you never saw me." The guards without thinking twice, did what the Sergeant told them to do.
Without delay, he planted the explosives and were ready to destroy the whole room by pushing a button but he had something else to do. He had to plant explosives on three power conduits on the same deck and two on deck 8, the conduits there didn't receive proper maintance.
He took a moment to think how he should execute the plan without leaving traces that would lead to Interspace's involvement and then began to plant the explosives on the three conduits. The first part was easy as Deck 6 was a restricted area where only security officers were allowed and placing the explosives could be done easily. Deck 8 however would be tricky because of the people that were residing there. After reaching Deck 8, he ordered the security on Deck 8 to restrict everyone in their quarters to prevent wanderers.
Now, with Deck 8 clear, Boss could plant explosives on the remaining two power conduits. By doing so, it would seem as if the explosion in the tradelane monitoring room triggered chain-reactions between Deck 6 and 8 and causing serious damage in those two decks with a plasma explosion. The conduits in Deck 8 were located in sealed rooms and could only be opened for routine examination and maintainance. All he had to do is plant two more devices and his task was completed. With a smirk, he told himself, "It's almost done." Boss was known to be a sadistical paramilitary person and wouldn't hesitate to harm others for his own amusement so he had no regrets of the results his actions were about to make.
Having finished with planting the explosives he ordered all security personel nearby to go to the Security HQ on Deck 9 for a briefing as news of Kazir's death weren't known yet.
After updating everyone about the current situation, only a few knew about the secret plan, it was decided that resistance was futile and they should surrender as it was a way to resolve it quicker and would avoid any unecessary bloodshed. After finishing the debriefing, he gathered two of the trusted guards and gave them a few small devices. "Take these and plant these in vital rooms. When they try to access the systems, those tiny buggers would trigger a false power overload."
Having everything set, he ordered everyone to pass on a message.
"This is Sergeant Boss, Security Chief Kazir is dead and Deputy Weiss is missing. We have decided to surrender to avoid any furthur bloodshed allow a quick resolve to this whole situation."
After finishing making the announcement, all alone in the room, he said to himself and chuckled "Everything's set and now all I gotta do is wait.."
Frederick kept his guns trained on the two figures in the elevator. His mech hissing as the rounds locked in place, the grenade launcher's flaps visibly open with their ordinance ready to fire. He replied in a somewhat menacing tone, "By order of der Kanzler you are to relinquish any weaponry you have und surrender, step out of der elevator slowly. Failure to comply will result in you being treated as combatants. Und if you do not comply I am authorized to use force to subdue you. So unless you like der feeling of stun rounds or gas I suggest you comply."

"Hear that? Now you have even less reason to not submit."
Keeping his distance Frederick primed his grenades to be airburst and sealed his own helmet waiting for the couple to make their move.
