I can't RP if pressing enter crashes my game!

I am so frustrated with this. I posted in bug reports and have reinstalled completely twice now. This stupid bug/glitch/whatever it is is driving me insane.

SOMETIMES when I press the ENTER key to type my game just crashes to desktop (CTD.) There is nothing I can do to interact with people, and it just looks like I log off in front of them. If it's a pirate engagement it generally results in me losing my ship and cargo. I can't interact with people, I can't be fun... I always have to fear that if I hit that enter key my game is going to crash. The worst part is when I'm trying to talk to my friends and can't because again, CTD.

I don't know what to do. HELP.

There is no difference on your computer between using the numerical enter and the regular enter, as they both command the same base function.

While there's no difference as far as the computer is concerned, his keyboard itself may be glitched. Can of spray air or compressor to first try to clean whatever crud has accumulated under there. If that doesn't fix anything, then swap the keyboard out with a different one and see if that fixes it. If not ... then I'm not sure what you need.

Check for other programs running in the background. Also switches between desk and game can cause problems sometimes. Maybe stop running desktop windows manager (dwm.exe) in the taskmanager while playing. Probably this can also be achieved by right click and set properties - compatibilities for freelancer (exe or link) with a check to deactivate visual design. Desktop can be related to such problems in older games, but it's just a guess.
