Ok, for those that are anaware of this nice little slice of TV coolness, Jericho is a series about how a small town in Kansas copes with the complete collapse of the US gov't after a multitude of nuclear blasts go off around the country.
Eventually the town of Jericho pulls together & starts to rebuild, but is dogged by the neighboring town of New Bern, while reeling from a major pirate attack from a squad of 'Blackwater' type mercs known as Ravenwood.
Raped of a large number of it's buildings, people, & resources...New Bern attempts to cannibalize Jericho as the season fades to black amid the sound of automatic machine-gun fire.
I liked the show from day one, but was not a fan until 1/2 way through the season...by the time the season ended, I was completely smeggin' hooked.
CBS promised season II before the shooting of the season finalie, & left season I on an extremely tense cliffhanger.
Then, a month later, the pencil-pushers cancelled the show
Since then...Jericho has aquired a nice little blurb in the history books:
Networks are known on rare occasions to cave into veiwer demands, & bring back a show that the suits would rather dump, but Jericho...
Heh, Jericho has the distinction of being the 1st show to be FORCED back onto the schedule by it's fans.
In a flashback scene leading up to the finalie, Jake (Skeet Ulrich) tells the story (in a diner) of the 'Battle of the Bulge'
The Nazi's were advancing further into allied territory, & after they 'bulged' across the allied front line, the Nazi commander invited the American General to surrender.
The General's defiant reply to the Nazi over the radio was simply:
"NUTS!"
As the Mayor of New Bern surrounds the town of Jericho...he offers them a chance to surrender.
The Town's defiant reply to the Mayor over the radio was simply"
"NUTS!"
So, I'll give everybody ONE guess as to the Fans defiant reply to CBS about the show's cancellation....
anyone?
Yep...CBS recieved around 20 TONS of various types of nuts on their doorstep before they gave in, & announced this:
Interesting movie, i decided to check it out, i was on the website, and when i click on the video it says: "this content is currently unavaible". Oh well, maybe next time :D
True, ep's 1-3 were leaked, but I didn't mention 'em, cause watching those won't count as a rating then the show airs.
for example, I have satelite TV w/ a DVR plugged into my phone line.
'They' say it's to have caller ID pop up on screen when a call comes in, & will tell you that having that option is so cool, that the company will charge an extra 6 dollars a month, if you don't plug your TV in to share in the coolness.
What it really is...is a way for the company to monitor your viewing habits, & sell off that info to marketers.
company logic is: if we can't make a sly buck off of you w/ selling your info to others, we will force you to pay for our loss by billing you extra.
besides that irritating bit of reality...the good side of it, is that your ratings on a show count just as much as the antiquated 'Neilsons' rating system ever did.
& as said before, (if you can, that is,) watching online counts as a rating too, but watching the torrents don't
I have nothing against watching torrents...thats how I watch Dr Who, Torchwood, Robin Hood, Deadwood, ect...but, Jericho SPECIFICALLY needs the ratings:rtfm:
Tune in however you can...but try your collective bests to make the watching count:yahoo:
