Have you ever played the Freelancer single player campaign? The LSF aren't supposed to go there, only the Navy.

The LSF in the original game were basically the LPI only actually part of the government, whereas the LPI was a private company formed just to make up the numbers.

As to why the LSF suddenly became the CIA in Disco I have no idea, theres quite a few things in Disco that doesn't make sense vanilla lore wise.
