That model is frankly disgusting. It doesn't fit the Bretonian shipline in any way really, given that its 'similarities' (the mouth, the ribs and the curved back) are all done completely wrong. Those prongs at the back are completely pointless as well, why even add them?

And of course, the textures are abysmal. If you're going make a lighter Bret Gunboat, which Bretonia really does not need IMO (the current GB just needs some proper balance tweaks, not to be ignored by a failure of a balance lead), at least get a proper model that actually fits the shipline.

i don t do that too often when its about taste and constructive critizism - but i really have to say that, montezuma:

the model follows the bretonian capline rather precisely, the spine and the tail are spot on based on the bretonian capline - there is no doubt about that. the wings are based on DA concept art design of early bretonian designs.

and the texture is actually pretty fitting. bretonian ships, the capital ships are not quite known for their very clean and smooth skin - making it so makes any addition look alien to the bretonian capline. - and while the larger caps make use of dyed parts that add a composite colouring ... that is not a necessity, especially regarding the lore.

so - while i personally respect a LOT of critizism, especially based on design and taste - yours was simply unqualified, i am very afraid to say. - i think i know quite a lot about our freelancer models now - and while this is most certainly not the most inspiring - and by FAR not the best skinned one ( as stated ) - it is far far away from abysmal in any way.

especially considering the usual game engine enviroments, the distances used and the ambient lightning applied to models - this model AND its texture is of actual average quality for a custom bretonian capital ship design.

again - can it be better? - of course, there is never a limit to improve, can one of the community make it better? - maybe - just takes one to try it.

from my pov of how models progressed and improved in terms of meshing and skinning ever from 4.82 upwards - this is pretty much "on spot" and in line with how such a ship would supposed to look like.

each characteristic part of that mesh was chosen from reliable sources based on vanilla, shipline progression and original concept drawings from the DA shipdesign, adjusted to fit disco. ( mostly cause the original bretonian designs were a lot more streamlined and flashy )

whats important about major faction ships? - when seen unskinned, they must immedietly point to the associated faction
whats important about the intended role of a ship? - even a still image must translate its general idea ( light, heavy, tough, frail etc. )

@montezuma again: your opinion was acknowledged and noted, but i simply cannot relate to this judgement in any way other than considering it your personal taste. the flaws you pointed out do not strike me as valid even remotely, i m afraid - but nevertheless, the opinion was noted as a valuable critizism.

Concept, idea, shipclass is all ok.

But it seems unfinished in looks. Mainly textures.

Yes, I informed Jinx that the textures would be the final and most important part to complete the model. The thing is the bretonia textures are bugged and Jinx had to use different programs to reach that result. I fully understand all of you speaking about the textures and I am definitely sure if they were 100% fine, you all would like it slightly more. Still, textures can be changed but the model remains.

@Montezuma: I am really dissapointed from your personal oppinion about the model. I dont expect a corsair player to say something good of possible future enemy ship but your oppinion was really not in place. We've been studying the bretonian ships for really a lot of time, personally I - for years. I cant model, I dont have skills in that, but I can guide a good and skilfull moder like Jinx to build something good.

Everything that is at the current gunship is following the standart bretonia lore parts. Every ship from the gunboat to the battleship contains: Head (bridge), Body(shell), Engine (tail) and Weapon elements (platforms). Even the bretonia battleship have 2 huge platform positions for the vanila battle razors. Everything was done according to the vanila origins of these ships not because of the influence of our current understanding for space ships.
I am a huge fan to star wars but I didnt let my inspiration to let me guide Jinx build "SW" Ship...I did my best to follow the steps of the bret line and Jinx did his best to realise all this.


I doubt there is someone good here able to do that. Why? Because most of the "possible" modders here already rejected my offers.

Well I'm not too keen on the design as well. But I voted yes, simply because it is a fact that Bretonia could use something new. RP-wise it's only natural that Bretonian Ships evolve into something new. They've been having war for quite some time so there must be a possibility to learn from experienced shipcaptains ...

So I say bring this ship on! Bretonia is the centre of the current Exiles storyline, maybe this ship can provide some fresh and new input out there.

thos microscopic "arms" on the real "arms/wings" kinda ruins the entire model...

honestly, those tiny legs, arms or whatever kills the whole ship. makes it feel incredibly messy and well, amateurish made...
i dont see any design or functionality in them, justifying their existence.

also, i dont get why bretonia need this boat.. being on the recieving end of bret ganks, iv'e had enough issues as is getting away from those damn mini cruisers...

If you wanna "fix" BAF shipline, just remove 10k armor on the "mini cruiser" and buff the agility a bit... it would still be the heaviest boat ingame (even heavier then Salvager)

EDIT: given Bretonia being well, screwd atm, i doubt they have the resources to do RnD on a new shipclass, rather then making quick and effective design upgrades on what they have.

EDIT 2:
If this makes it ingame, it should be INCREDIBLY expensive to purchase, to reflect the cost of a brand new and "untested" RnD project.. iRP they should be beta-tested prototypes...

I voted yes since i rather like the model.
And I need to compliment Jinx on giving it a try since modelers say the Bretships are rather hard to model/takes much time.

Sure some tweaking can be made.

I would say balance issues shouldn't be talked about here since this Poll/Threat is only about the Model.

Please don't go down that road since I would have to reply with lolol so all the big BS should cost 3bil since they use up so many ressources and everything new should only be given to the official Playerfaction over the first modupdate where it has been added.

id say yes if it didnt have that platform between the fins of the ship, i absolutely hate that look, even on the vanilla destroyer, it would look so much cooler without it
