You are right that lately you need to screen to protect yourself. To many A-holes are doing stupid crap trying to get you to do something against rules so they can report you.
Also there is alot of reports because of alot of stupid people playing that just do not get the rules. Hell in last 2 hours i was attacked 3 times without any RP. Once was from an LNS that has been here for over 6months. 1 Lib fighter CDs me no problem, we Chat/RP a little then go snub to snub. Fair enough. Then 2 LNS players in BCs come in shooting no words at all. 1 is 6month vet or more, other who knows. But my point is, If i filed a report on this everytime it happened i would play 2 hours, and spend 5 hours filing reports.

So NO! i do not think the fines are to much, i think they are to soft, and that the sanctions would be greatly reduced if admins came down harder on violators.

For example most players like myself who have played awhile, and have many chars, and cash saved up would not even feel a 500mil fine. But if for example the admins decided to Delete 1 of my chars worth about 500mil with many hours invested then that would hurt, and make me say " Oh crap, i better not ever do that again"

Also i find many report for OORP attacks, because a player did not say "I am attacking you now, be ready" Well sorry if a pirate, or lawful has been saying if you do not pay tax/fine he will kill you for 5 minutes, and I decide enough, and start shooting then it was a legal attack as RP has been done for 5 minutes. You do not have to say. "ok. I am not paying, so now we fight" pew pew.

Because every player has billions saved up and nothing to do with their time than be a pain in the ass on the forums.

Billions or 1 credit. You do not break the rules and your golden. But you do break the rules you should get more then a slap on the wrist.

What you call a 'slap on the wrist' represents weeks of hard work to some people. Just because YOU don't spend any of your credits, just because YOU are sitting on billions because you don't do anything but play Freelancer, just because YOU think it's fair doesn't mean it is.

Not going off topic to argue with you. It is obvious from your other posts tonight you are looking for a fight.
So i will just agree to dis-agree. I got my opinions, and you got yours. Go fight with someone else.

Really? No wisdom to impart from the shining void of pure light and knowledge which is your behind? That's a first.

ryoken speaks the truth, strangely.
If someone who has put in lots of hard work and then intentionally broken the rules, then it makes sense to invalidate that hard work.

It's mind-numbingly simple.

Do not break the rules and the admins will leave your pixels alone.
Break the rules and they will take them away.

Disproportionate punishment doesn't usually get the message across.

Vicious circle, people behave like idiots, rules get made to try and control, people then try and bend the rules to get what they want, rules grow etc. then sanctions follow.

If people just used common sense and stopped trying to get an edge by whatever way they can then this would not be a problem. You reap what you sow and the server is reaping some interesting times.

Making a mistake, like accidentally letting ooc into local is negligence, and doesn't warrant such punishment.
Reengaging in battle, not following ID and other intentional acts of rule-breaking do.
It is suitable for admins to assume guilt in situations that are not clear-cut; it is expected that every player on the server has read and knows the rules before connecting, and thus unintentionally breaking the rules is not a valid defence.
