I am against playerfactions buying systems.
As far as I have seen, after a faction buys and then mods a system, for all intents and purposes, It drops off the RP map, because factions do such things as set their guard system to be an invincible fortress....and then, no one ever uses it but that faction. Much more positive, for the general rp, sort of addition would be a bit of an expansion, the way cultures with empty space nearby are wont to expand.
As I see it, over 3 or 5 mod releases, the 3 canadian systems can be slowly modded, to be a fresh expansion of liberty.

The first release, will include the planets, and asteroid fields, maybe an occasional IMG or DSE 'exploratory' or 'survey' patrols.

Next release, the IMG/DSE patrols have gained more influence, and are centered around infrastructure projects: the DSE around a few new mining bases just outside the asteroid fields, and DSE around a tradelane project.

Next release: one planet has the beginnings of a Planetform project, with a possible custom background, (a geodesic dome, because of hostile environment) it buys planetforming gass and alien organisms at a premium, selling nothing. The other is rather more livable, with a bare bones LPI(civilians) settlement. A hacker base is hiding in one of the asteroid fields now, and possibly the xenos are fighting the IMG.

Next release: about half of the Tradelane rings work, like in tau 31. (no war here, things are moving along) Gate projects have started, and a new Ageria base has grown up orbiting the Plantform world. Rogues have moved in, and created their own base in the far system, perhaps meeting up with some gaians, who are fighting the planetform base.

Next release: Most of the gates work, lanes are 75% operational and the Navy has moved in a battleship, to defend the LPI world and the new Interspace shipping platform from the Xeno and Rogue raids. Planetform world is defended by navy patrols, and swarms of bounty hunters (like cali minor) from gaians, hackers, and whoever else is in the area.

Next release: all gates and all lanes are operational, a new lane is being put up to connect the planetform world to a new (just discovered) mineable zone, a shipyard is being built nearby, to take advantage of the nearby resources.

Final release: everything up and running, a decent new addition to the RP.

Guard systems should be where the most exclusive faction-specific ships/weapons are kept.

Yes, HOWEVER, aside from Fury 5's, nothing else is exclusive. You can buy them from unguard bases.

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

I have to add my cant on this....

If you are going to add Canada make sure Nova Scotia gets a mention. Pretty much isolated, but the home of everything Canadian methinks.

New Foundland & Labrador need to get mentions too.

Of course, the capital of NS is Halifax, a city in north east England:crazy:Place names have spread throughout the western world!

I vote to add it to Liberty, with a link through New Brunswick which should have a Freeport, BMM influences would be fitting too, Blunt has the feel of it in an earlier post.

Just my thoughts folks,

Following the steps would be awesome...so that there would be a bit of a story to it....Sure no one else cares, BUT....I think it would be awesome to see some sort of advancing storyline.

I like Unselie's idea of a step-by-step process, but maybe combining a few steps. We'd be in v4.93 or something before the systems are fully developed, and Liberty's going to be in a war with Rheinland well before that if the storylines keep up.

But staying on point, putting a few things in these systems would be nice. A couple Outpost type stations (see border stations, Rostock/Corfu) for a couple lawfuls and unlawfuls. I'd like to see a place where Bret and Lib NPC's can meet each other. Liberty Navy fighting Mollies (wasn't there a post about that somewhere?) and other such activities, over the course of time.

As for the names. Who cares. PS, there already is an Illinois, a Florida, a Virginia. I don't remember in the 3+ pages of whining who said it, but I think that the creators were just to lazy to come up with their own names, and RP'd it as the sleeper ships missing home.

Well, after having a couple of hours of thought, I agree with both Blunt and Unseelie. Basically, the Canadian systems can go one way or the other. (No offense to any Canadians :$)

I came up with an idea however. Either keep the Canadian names and make them independent systems like Magellan and Bering, or rename them to Oregon Territory systems and write roleplay about a great migration into the (sorta) western systems. It would closely mirror the "Oregon Trail" period in American history where the systems are unexplored and mostly rugged, undeveloped. The Jumpholes only appeared recently so while the government is busy constructing Jumpgates so as to keep a hold on the systems, criminals prey on the newly settled civilians. (Perhaps civilian NPCs getting attacked by Rogue NPCs and the like)

This idea came to me on the drive home, so really it's just a brainstorm.:)

"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."

Actually, I'd like to point out that the Outcast Dreadnought is now exclusively available at Corsica... thank you:$

Well, I suppose it really depends. I mean, most of the Guard systems are so off the map (cept Baffin and Tau-44) that they never get used...and I know I love mine, it's a great place to train since NOBODY's stupid enough to come after us five klicks above one of the most powerful gun platforms in Sirius. It gives us peace of mind, I suppose.
