I was speaking about the person whom I am accused of 'threatening" and their form of fallacious, offensive argument. Not Dusty.
I never got mad cause I got blowed up...
Hell, I'm a Junker, happens every other day!
I "got real mad" because I was called 'retarded' and 'stupid' and 'crybaby', by said person, while they trolled my RP posts, among other tasty sanctionable tidbits - while no sanctions came of it, despite repeated reports.
Also I never threatened anyone, I simply said something to the effect of "it's easy to act like an ass from behind your computer screen, try it within arms reach."
'Cause we all know that if I HAD threatened anyone, I'd be on 'vacation', right?
So... How bout people (meaning Sinagang et. al) stop trying to re-write history and stop defending the indefensible, yeah?
Thanks!
...Oh, and back to the OP, thanks for challenging me - it gave me opportunity to clear my name.
Quote:You post from great height
far above your own station
Gawsh, That's pretty subjective, innit?
And not very respectful either.
My 'station' being that I have a Bachelor of Sciences in English Education, and a Minor in Journalism. I taught English at the collegiate and High School level for a number of years, as well as being a paid writer for even more.
I'm also more than twice the age of the average player here, so if I have a bit of hard-earned wisdom, and choose to share it now and again, by using an extensive vocabulary and writing the way I think and speak, that's 'posting from above my own station'?
Frankly, I don't much care what people think of my 'wisdom' - if they get something from it then I am glad - if not, no loss.
(I'm also not saying I'm smarter than a single soul here, either. Wisdom =/= intelligence)
What I don't do is come at people with sideswipe insults at their character, even when I wholly disagree on a particular issue. That's below my 'station'.
Thanks for the jab though, I'm always gladdened when people I otherwise respect pull back the veil and show their acidic nature, it gives me fair warning.
EDIT: since this has turned into a "take pot-shots at Finnegan" thread, maybe this should be moved to Flood so everyone can join in!
sigh and thus the limits of the haiku as a form of communication are proven.
as much as I myself may have hated Sina , by no means was our battle against him holy Crusades against evil or anything of that sort. No 1 involved in any of that crap was ever on the high road to begin with and I find it interesting that you think you traveled such a path.
I also find it interesting that given that you know me you would think I would take any umbrage with your use of advanced English.

gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
I tried, initially, to offer a thought pattern that varied from the 'skype-buddies/faction-mates' mentality so prevalent here.
One that asked people to challenge one another - rather than toe the line like lemmings - to disagree (albeit, agreeably) and to dance, sing, be happy and change the world by being different than those that have come before.
What I got was people thinking that taking character swipes and jabs was the same as disagreeing. (and while it is disagreebale, it isn't disagreeing, per se.)
People thinking that insulting was the same as arguing.
There's a reason the two words are different words... a reason they have different definitions in Webster's....
...but am I surprised by the misunderstanding? Here in DiscoGC-land?
I shouldn't be - I've read enough flame-ups to know better - but, yes, I am.
I am constantly overestimating this community, and I only need to see how they behave on different forums (see: RSI forums) where there is no fear of banishment to see the true nature of the beast.
-Oh, and while I'm on it, thanks guys for being like that. (sarc)
I'd bet Finn's entire fortune on the guess that these recent DDOS attacks are a direct result of that behavior on the RSI forums.
Finn I think the point is that you're trying to give advice and or wisdom that you, yourself do not follow and have not followed in the past. You act as if you're not a party to the very behavior you continually condemn and insult the rest of the community when we call you out on your bull.
Perhaps if you got of your high horse, you'd understand why it is people treat you as they do.
Hint: You treat them in the exact same manner. You whine about how they act, while acting exactly the same.
For what it is worth, I agree that friends who don't challenge you don't help you.
