i just applied the checked red / white skin to set it apart from the cockpit window ( its a placeholder ) ... its checked so you can see the structure a little better - which is not possible when i strip a uni-colour skin over it.
edit: and it gives me an idea where the textures are "distorted" - just ignore it... i work with this one - makes it easier to spot verticles and horizontals...
Oh, now its getting the whole tortured shrimp look, awesome!
though, seems bigger than a fighter.
Side note, bret fighters have a big open windsheild bubble thingie...check my sig, its right there...that one makes the ship seem larger, because of the thinness of the bubble.
Make the windsheild more of a bubble, and try thickening the fin/feet.
addition: i just changed the cockpit to something more "bubble-shaped" - it makes the ship look smaller again. but it lost its "fierce" look - it looks a bit tame or excited now ( hmm.. can a ship look excited? ) thickened the bottom-fins to roughly the strength of the wings.
what i do personally like: the sideview is good, i think - the "head" along with the body that splits into an upwards section and a downwards fin is interesting.
what i do not like about it: the front - its boring...and bulky, too. it looks more like a van or a truck, than a fighter from the front.
gotto think of something for the front.
about gunhardpoints - i would think of two below the bottomwings, two at the bottom of the engines intakes and two at the engines intakes top. - the tail might aswell hold a backwards firing gun ( but its useless so who cares )
hitbox:
well i really don t know... maybe one can try to apply a backwards facing armoured transport. it does have quite a blocky shape - but then the wings had no hitbox. or a scaled up hussar hitbox. that would cover the bottom fins and the body - but would leave the wings out, too... .
For cabin, think of an human eye. Maybe 2-3 thin vertical lines would do better than visor.
For fins, downward arc is interesting, but looks fragile. Maybe it should follow line of central corpus more. and be less sticking out at fist bend.
I still dont like that hole in hull.
Shorten engine tail a bit and widen engines. Make them remind of modern jet engines but maybe more blocky.
ah jinx, this new version is much better improvement. The first version I'd have given 3/10. This one deserves 8/10 at least. You have done something I'd never dared: trying bretonian design. Excellent work.
since i had a FL-hook issue and couldn t log in yesterday - i worked a little on my bretonian design. i wasn t very happy with it - cause i was aiming for something like a heavy fighter - and not a superheavy - so i started again... here is what i got...
ahh - the thing below the cockpit is supposed to be the bretonian enblem... for those that wonder about it. - the bretonian fighters have that there ( at least the one that i checked )
and another one - top, front, side
as you see - it looks a lot lighter now than the old design - i even went through skinning it somewhat - but not final. i know that the bretonian fighters have these ornaments....
it has no legs - and is rather based on the hussar design - it has wings ( wow - now that was a surprise ) to set it apart from the other light fighters. i kept the engine tubes - but integrated them into the intakes ( those are similar to the ones of the hussar )
well - enjoy:laugh:
modellingtool : metaseque ( or something like that ) - skins: selfmade in photoshop - polygons: roughly 500
edit: i suggest the BHG hammerhead hitbox - rescaled
