When you are ready with measuring sizes you might actually post something on-topic?
Snac I bought the cheapest package because I figured out that the front guns would be fixed on the hull, it means no arcs and it means no mouse fly whatever the devs(marketing) say.
I guess I would go for the alpha with Saitek X-52 Pro or anything similar-I hope that Hotas manufacturers would make custom stick or so -I guess it is better investment then expensive ship that would be too easy to kill due to the lack of proper controls. If anyone around was crazy enough to buy corvette for "only" 1000$ I would be happy to play part of his fighter crew.
Anyone checked SC forum about the no-PvP button development in the last couple of days? If it stays as proposed the game would be utter stupid to play and I doubt that it would be fun thing.
The Project Eternity would also make Kickstarter funding next year so I would by the cheapest package there as well. In general investing a lot in someone's' marketing promises is bad thing-they would go after the profit anyway and make the game easy and dull in the safe systems and too brutal and too hardcore in the lawless systems.

Personally I'm curious regarding infrastructure and support for private servers, after all it's one of the main features listed. Although it's too early to say what will be there I do hope to see a scalable server solution considering how network intensive the game seems going to be. Like multiple physical servers maintaining a single game world and balancing the load effectively. Also hoping server software itself will run on Linux, making private servers not so costly and more effective. I'm hoping to see good documentation regarding modding the game, publicly released toolchain (importers/exporters/converters/etc), I think that is what was meant for one of the reached stretch goals. I like to make things, to tinker with them, so my primary interest is in modding this game.
I hope the requirements for servers won't be that high, as I don't want to buy new server hardware for hosting. :S
I forsee many private servers are made for the sole fact of trying out capital ships, because they are so cool. I think the Constellation is for me, if I can get someone to fly my small P52 around for me. (Or an upgraded version of the P52 should there be one)
The modding manual that comes with the Lancer package will probably be packed full of tidbits that will make everything cooler, I think I may have to learn it.
Its going to be funny how long after release there will be modded Viper Mk.2s, Starwars ships, millennium falcons....
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
