Hi.
Should it be like a patch on uniform or more like a scoreboard with this symbol on it?

Hmmm... I would like people to be able to display it on their character's site or signature or something like that. The patch on uniform idea sounds nice.

One could assume these decorations are carried on the uniform and below the Vanguard, there would be the symbols to show how many, which types.
