Is this something you've actually tried and found out in game? I was fairly sure oil worked at 1 unit consumed per second in all cloaks. If it doesn't as you've said, try promethene instead. I'm fairly sure one of the two at least should run at 1 unit consumed per second.

I'm curious about this. In my understanding cloaks run on a seperate fuel source, as most Sirian people use at least two different fuels (when MOX can't be acquired people tend to use Hfuel for their ships - bad rp?). That wouldn't make any sense if they ran off the ship's main power source. Are there any actual descriptions of cloaks, or are players just meant to make things up as they see fit?

It wouldn't make any sense either if the Gallics haven't put a lot of effort into adapting their stuff to MOX, knowing they might get their hands on LD-14 very soon and knowing the superior effectiveness of MOX. Rheinland is not unfriendly, and if I was a high ranking Gallic Navy person, I'd have invited ALG technicians and get the full scoop on MOX the moment I heard of its effectiveness. I wanted to do some RP along these lines, but I could never figure out the lore behind cloaks and how they operate when I was asking around, so I sort of dropped it.


I am also pretty sure oil doesn't work on cloaks at all (but works on JD's).

No if it was a WWII simulator, it would be the allied forces (and the Communists) preparing to swoop in to steal resources, technology and scientific knowledge from the losers of the war, the Nazis. At the end of WWII the enemies of Nazi Germany very much had a laid out plan and was ready to pick the fruits of the technologic endeavours of Nazi Germany. V2 tech and all that, the enemies of Nazi Germany very much knew what it was and exactly how it was resourceful, no reason to believe Gallics wouldn't know what MOX does and what to do with it to gain a major field leveller.

According to the hook files, Oil is only used for the jump and survey devices, while Promethene is used for cloaks.

Judging by what Ursus has said, it'll be promethene that runs at one unit consumed per second.
