this sort of exchange, it happened so fast as I left the jump sequence that I did not get any chance to even see the ship.

Yes, if you are flying a, for example, non liberty company ship and encounter a xeno, who can treat you as a combat target after giving a valid RP before engaging you.

Same with Ageira and Lane Hackers.

Or anything and nomads.
And wilde.

So...yes, we do. Depends on what is the ship you were flying and what was YOUR id.

ID that allows to shoot you yes, but not that fast. No matter what ID the player had, he has to give you time to respond, or even get out of the jump sequence.
You should have time stamps on for all your chars, and when crap like that happens report them.
2 rapid fire pre-recorded lines, then pew pew is against rules, and sanctionable.

Well I'm pretty confused after having read some recent threads. As I understand it, most ID's (the ones that don't say "May treat as combat target") are subject to:

Quote:6.6 Aggressors are not allowed to destroy a trade vessel prior to issuing a demand, in system or local chat, and allowing sufficient time to respond. Demands may be cargo, credits or an RP demand, such as leaving the system. "Halt" is not a demand. You must say more than this to ask a ship to stop however you may destroy them if they attempt escape.

And that's sort of independent of the general affiliation between your ID and his, say if it was a BAF'er he'd be subject to 6.6 too (because there's no "May treat as combat targets" on the BAF ID even though Bretonia is at war with Gallia, and therefore also IDF). But I could be wrong, there's some discussions about demanding duels and whatnot, and I'm confused.

It's hard to say without info on the other dude's ID, but if he was a Maquis for instance and you were in Gallia I'd wager it would be fine because of:

Quote:Pilot carrying this ID is a member of the Maquis who:
May treat all trade vessels in Gallia as combat targets.

Looks like a Maquis to me. Seems legit. Of course, Maquis can only fly up to bombers, so if y got insta'd, then either you were lagging or flying a weakly armoured ship. But I know the Thorkel probably isn't such, so we're back to square one.

There was a sig here, once.

Ok regarding to this ID i have 2 questions to
1. If a player is a pirate and he has a gunboat in i.e. Bretonia more, the gunboat is a liberty ship ?! Is this allowed? (As far as I know pirates must use their own hips, more, cloaking device are prohibited in any houses except Liberty, I sow a pirate use that in Bretonia).

2. If a trader use i.e. Liberty ship + Id but he is neutral to Rheinland players, what can it done to that player (I personally asked him to leave Rheinland, I didn't shoot him down cos I know how hard is for new players who try to make a living in this game), but I just want to know what can be done in this situation?

Thanks

As Echo has said, sounds like a Maquis. It is a very good ID for grieving players and ruining people's fun.
Whenever I manage to get some Maquis stuff going, I'll keep it as a "last resort" for those who aren't going to RP with me (in a rude way at least). Generally not going for blowing up all of Gallia, and as I say every so often: "You can shave a Wookie many times but you can only skin him once".

The Coalition can do it to transports IF they are hostile (Firing upon them) to them, ID's Police/Navy (Such as Merchant Navy), or if they are being constantly harassed by the ship (Them constantly following and citing the position of the Coalition to Navy/Police).

It all depends on the situation and the ID rules.

You guys still missed the posters main concern. And that is he gave 2 rabid fire lines then fired, and killed him before he could respond. No matter what dam ID you are using, that is against the rules. You have to give player time to respond, or your just a turd who wants a blue message, and needs to break rules to get it.

Interesting scenario, since technically you did respond by replying to the threat. So does that mean that "sufficient time to respond" has been achieved?
Even if the whole encounter lasted less then 20 seconds, you did make a "response" when you asked the terrorist why he was going to kill you.

Therefore in my opinion, rule 6.6 has not been violated. It's just bad form, minimalist RP or, as Ryoken so eloquently put it, being a turd.
