i entered that fight with 2 dragons on my back after the lag stopped i had 25 of them pounding away at my sheilds :) and yes i agree, that lag definantly killed the fight :(

i do also agree that it is stupid for a trader to fight the pirates and say stuff like "you are not going to get this cargo or my money unless i die first" is a pretty stupid thing to do and out of roleplay
(and i am fully aware that no-one has said anything like that in this thread but it is worth saying)

Now, tonights action, seemed to started out fun.

There is a pirate, Viper in this case in the area.

I try to orginize a Trade run with a couple players.

I get two offers of excorts........so....off my group goes.....not soon after i get though a Jump Hole, Viper is all over me.....HALT !

I run, my excorts say: She is under my protection, you'll have to go threw me to get to her!!

Go for it, the Viper pirate replies.

Soon, a fight of ships start......My sheild are almost taken down......my engone wont come on line due to the CD....I start to run....then

RED COMPUTER Signals.................everyone crashes.

The fun stops, and after a few minutes....we get back on.
Viper appears to be mad or something.....I offer to still run some sort of payment to him , when he is servial systems away. We are in PM for a few minues.....ect...ect. Viper tells me to tell ian GOOD FIGHT.

Now...it seems all the fun has been sucked out of the action.

My final 2 cents on this is :

Pirates, say something more than HALT.
Traders, your making 7M a run........have some fun, run around a bit and finnaly give the poor staving space hag 250K for his efforts.

On my trader character, i can make 5M in less than 15 mins

We want to make it a server full of RP, and ppl that go by those rules that were set out to ensure good RP.
I don't mind paying tax, i paid my share to NovaPG before, but don't wxpec me to go OORP just becaue you said halt.
work a it for the money, RP it, i wilpay glaly, toly reason i'm dong thsout is to gt som good RP out o pirate encounter.

My character is a Geisha, and feels that all delts are to be paided.
I felt that I tried to settle things down in PM.....even when your character was servail sytems away, I offered to travel to you, to make the payment.

If my excorts had lost the PvP fight, then you 'win'.

Firstly Geisha, please note I'm pretty new too and my word is not the gospel truth from the horses mouth, so to speak.

I been shot at for running.

This is okay, but you can't be killed until the pirate has said "Pay X amount", and you've refused to, continued running, or haven't answered after 10 seconds.

I been shot at and killed for not running.

This is against the rules, AFAIK, unless you refused to pay, or (i *think*) took too long

I been shot at and killed ,even AFTER i paided.

If you paid the amount they asked, they aren't allowed to kill you.

I been warned and then shot at.

If they haven't killed you, I think this *is* ok, but it's badish RP to do hull damage when the traders stopped.

I been killed without warning.

This is against the server rules unless the player was a Phantom [Phantom] Tag and ID; a Keeper (nomad); or Terrorist (like Xeno terrorist). Generally stay away from those fellows.
EDIT: THIS ^ one is WRONG (see rules quoted later in post.. if you want to keep reading *sighes*) - even terrorists have to tax. Nomads don't though.

I get told that Traders are NOT required to stop when ''HALT!!'' is yelled out.

They aren't, but the pirates more likely to "muscle you up" a bit if you get caught.
