Funny how this will be my first post on this forum, but yeah...

I already commented the video, but i think 400 (?) signs are just a few signs to make a proper opinion on this topic.

Okay, i played maybe for 2 months back in Reunion and then stopped and picked it up in Exiles recently. So I´d consider myself a newbie for sure.
Noone ever introduced me to this mod neither did anyone ever teach me anything - and that´s fine because one of the things i knew about this mod and this server prior playing on it was it has specific rules - many of them and i READ them. Of course i don´t know them from scratch tho.

But still - i can use google. I can put some effort into trying to be a good part of this community by reading this forum and using the wiki.

If all that doesn´t help i use the ingame chat to contact Angels, Admins or last but not least other players <- in this order. So far i did this twice and got helped out with the questions i had immediatly and friendly.
In all other cases i was able to help and educate myself - and of course there is very much yet to learn for me, but I AM working on it - i don´t expect that from others to do it for me.

I mean for example the server states it is a RP server, even the Server messages try to educate you on that and other topics a bit.Aand still there are plenty of "lols" "rofls" and a ton of smilies "disrupting" other peoples experience. And again a new player gets informed that it is a Roleplaying server... so why do those people log in and behave like that? I don´t know i´d say because they don´t care.
It can´t be being uninformed, because even ingame you are told.

Why do people not respond if you PM them: "//Hey you have no ID you might get one very soon otherwise everyone can treat you hostile and it is against the server rules." I had this specific case now several times already while flying from Liberty to Kusari and NOONE answered on that, no "thank you i just bought this ship and forgot to transfer", no "wait what is an ID", no "what does that mean", no "???", nothing!
And that alone frustrated me already so much - i can just imagine how older Liberty residents feel about that.

I´m pretty sure there are also many new players like me, who actually noone really notices or people think they are an alt of someone with more experience, because we actually still fly just a trader and try to inform ourselves before creating a new character and possibly doing something wrong while doing so and that takes some time and should it be worth to anyone who plans on playing "seriously" on this server and cares about being a "good" part of this community.

So after all that rambling, my point is, why is it so important to give those "unwilling" players a nice experience? As i stated, if you want to play by the rules, you totally can. With some minor errors probably, but none as stated as in this video.

Yay, I'm a movie star, namely evil, evil OC ignoramus. You say that I don't give a... whatever I wasn't give. Just a quick question - should I? Rhino aka dsy_li_freighter classified as Liberty Ship - Civilian. Rogues have them at 90%, so what wrong in having one Rogue IFFed? Your idea of experiment is great, but I think you should take something more obvious then a legitimate combination of ship and IFF.

I won't disagree that Disco is a bit less "Noobie Friendly" than it should be. At the same time, I still try and help out a person here and there that look like they're having troubles with certain things such as wonky ID/IFF combos, or even names that aren't really RP worthy. In fact just the other day I noticed a pair of Starfliers outside West Point in New York.

After a bit of chatting with them, I found out that one of them was new to Freelancer, and the other was the new guy's friend looking to set up a transport/escort combination of ships. I noted that the new guy's name wasn't exactly in character, so I suggested he change it to a name similar to his friend. He took the advice and went with the name I gave him. I then escorted one of them to Kepler for an Eagle, and pointed out where they could get a Firefly.

They thanked me, and after that I went off and did my own thing. I felt proud of myself, knowing that I may have just set the pair on the right path towards becoming upstanding players on the server.

Helping out folks when they're new can break or even prevent habits, as well as cap ships that aren't exactly.... Well, you get what I'm hinting at. Get 'em while they're young!

Honestly, THIS is the spirit which too much newbies don´t have. I had it too. I started here, hauling things in Liberty, even without FL Companion, because I didn´t knew there is anything like that. I also didn´t read the rules completely before I started, same as house laws They are so long and I wanted to play (and my english in that time was also worse)...

But I worked on myself, educated myself. I read my ID properly. And later I started to read player sanctions section (it really can help you a lot when you know for what players are sanctioned (mostly OOC chat, IDs, Zoners docking in houses, re-engaging and swearing) so you know you can´t do that.

Also, lot of new players broke rules unintentionally. Some of them are lucky and nobody notice it/report it. Others are not. But hey, like in real life, you are learning from your mistakes. But in Disco world, you don´t have to pay high cost for them. Just some pixel things...

And as some people said, lot of players are willing to help if you ASK. Sometimes newbies ask me via chat when I´m on other side of Sirius for example for good trade route. If they are polite, I spill some advice.

So of course, experienced players should help more. But newbie players also should try to work on theirself and if they want help, they should ask and don´t get annoyed when first asked player will ignore them.

Sindroms, I watched the video closely, and all you do is show some rather unremarkable things, underlined with audio trying to make them look remarkable, trying to make these people look bad and yourself like Mother Theresa set out to rescue the downtrodden.

What you may want to explain in more detail is why you expect people who see you have a rogue iff and freelancer ID and hang out in front of Manhattan to lecture you about rules anyway. Its not against the rules, you may simply be in the process of setting up a rogue and have enough rep but not the ID yet.

So lets see...

The navy 1k transport who passed you and didnt lecture you about your iff? Come on man with that name and that navy iff on a transport, thats a REAL noob who saw you red and ran. A REAL noob, as oposed to you, who are not, but who is someone posing as a noob to make a real noob look bad, pretending to be the savior of the noobs.

Ninja1. Same... both him and the previous guy are noobs who probably never read the forums.

Guy who shot you (legion): also a noob. You say no reason? You have an iff that makes you appear like his enemy. This guy has probably been attacked by people with your iff dozens of times. Possibly he even mistook you for a npc. You're rogue iff is no reason? Really? Again, the reason he acted like he did is because he's a REAL noob. Did you go back and explain to him what he did wrong, which rules he broke, what may happen to him, and what to do in future?

The officials talking among themselve and not going to lecture you: they were obviously busy with sometihng else. Same as everyone else who passed you. They were urgently heading to fights, to supply their burning base, to dock so they can log off and wathc their favorite tv show. Also, there was absolutely no urgent reason to talk to you, since you may simply be a rogue setting up.

Only thing rather dramatic, and how you chose to end the video, are 2 LNS who shoot you. They dont have a reason you say? Yeah, you're a rogue, who is their enemy. You got a freelancer ID and are underlevel there? Does your video even show that? Nope.

What it does show is you obviously attracting their attention because you're red on their scanners, you fly around them, but dont stop when they ask you to.

Should they have shot you`? Probably not. At least not saying "lane gates are illegal".

But think about it, why did they say that?

Only obvious answer: because they were noobs, who were trying to look through the jungle or rules but not able to find a way to act properly, because they are too inexperienced. Did you help them understand what was legal and what was not, and tell them how they should have responded?

Nope.

You posted a video of them on the forum, saying they are hurting the server gameplay because they are so mean to make-believe noobs.

This you did after making videos showing how cool it is to make troll-boats with names that hardly do anything to create a RP atmosphere, and blowing up one nooby LNS noob after the other, who are so stupid haha and not able to do anything against you haha, which is of course the right way to increase the feeling of community.

And uhm... you know honestly, that you're not Rainbow~Dash (see my previos posts), the OC-iffed CSV who did exactly what you do in the video... fly to new york, complain in bad english "why you shoot me" but who is obviously a vet posing as noob, exaclty like you do in the audio in the video. Sorry but I dont believe you that it wasnt you, or one of your "co-workers" in your "experiment". The response you got there didnt really fit into your video concept, did it, so that must be among the "tons of footage that you didnt use". Lets sweep that one under the carpet.

You know, when I first saw your thread I though, ha... so his Torpedo thing was a socialogical experiment to see how easily people could be manipulated into beinn bullies towards LNS, and sindroms now sindroms is going to "lift the curtain"?

Wrong.

Of course what you say before you post the video of LNS commiting an alleged rule violation which you set them up to do, you say a few things about noob friendliness. Some of which are true, and which have been said by other people before you, and have been found concensus to be accurate only recently, but were rejected by a large part of the community before because of who said. But your video, like the other videos you did before that, do little to promote any real improvements, but do a lot for self-promotion and making others look bad.

Or maybe you'll now say that the experiment succesful is the responses you get in this thread, to see who would chime in with some +1s and who would rant about you? Lets see.

Ask the admins to check if it was me or not. Simple as that.

Also, probably, hi Karlotta.

wow this is getting abit enoying already

so yes some people help noobs and most dont. i made new ship someone thought i was new PMed from from another system and asked if i needed help he even gave me 1 mill. real good reason is why noobs dont get much help are listed below

:
-Other players busy with bigger fish
-Noone notices the noob
-maybe somone making new character for some reason
-some people dont care
-people RPing in local, system, private, or Group chat so they busy
-maybe its an IFF glitch
-newbie dosnt ask anyone questions
-say they arenew
-some people AFK
-some people leave under levels alone
-people to busy doing something to notice a low level newbie flying around
- and more more and more

Biggest Reason For Newbies Not Getting The Help They Need Is

They dont ask for it or tell anyone they are new!

if a newbie comes up to me and asks for help and stuff i help them so its not all our faults if they dont ask add a message to when you login to a place where people can post their names so newbies can ask for help when they need it

i will say i was one of the people at newark sitting there we were dealing with a kusari destroyer with a navy ID as you see in video and yes i noticed your rogue many times but i thought either glitch or intentual cause how can you not notice it

and i hate having to post these messages all the damn time so all you people complaining about every little problem on disco stop and actually make a differnce in game

that all i have to say i hope it helps alot cause someone has to say it in details aparently so here i did it for all you i even made a list

^_^ have fun fly safe and have a good time and try and help newbies if they ask
