I feel like cloaking shouldn't work if you take damage before it's fully active or I'd also like to see some form of cloak disruptor added to the mod.
Other than that I really don't see what the problem is. The balancing of mining with trading is really what's causing less stuff to happen in game. At least it appears that way to me. In 4.85 all the players were concentrated in certain areas and routes. Now they're more spread out, so less of them bump into one another and cause exciting things to happen.
Edit: I see you found my signature and user title again, Gheis.

Kill this damn oorp overpowered thing with fire. It is ridiculous I sold one for around 12 billion
I guess the group that bought it made the money in 1-2 months, they would return their investment in 1 week using it to jump ores. I deleted the banks later since having so much credits is just wrong.
Actually... making barges a SRP ship with price around the SRP price would be enough. Oh, and you'd also have to ban barge jumping.
My favorite type of jumpers are BS jumpers who vanish in glorious fashion away from a gank, completely safe. That is always epic.
Like I said, all peeps need to do it remove zoom (gets rid of alot of lolwuts who use zooming BS/Cruisers/GB to an incredibly EFFECTIVE rate with no effort at all), and balance cloaks a tad bit. As for POBs I kinda like them they way they are, maybe a few more tweaks to make them a bit more self sustaining, but other than that I like em.
The way the new Freeworlds mod goes about balancing bigger ships with turret zoom is to give their weapons enough deviation that hitting anything smaller than a gunship with them is all but impossible. Turret zoom doesn't need to go, it makes sense as a feature for bigger ships to have but works a little too well against small targets at the moment.

Lolno. It's the only decent way a transport can defend itself. Capital ships, I understand, but it horribly nerfs transports back to the flying target stage.
This post is not only about the Turret Steering, TUrret ZOom, Cloaks and such things...
I don't know how to explain but until the 4.86 there were much more interesting events than we have now. Such as:
1)Wars between Orders and LNS, Orders and BHG, Orders and Keepers.
2)Groups of Outcats or Corsairs(and others) who pirated in the house systems... I would call an inactivity of other unlawful groups.
3) Outcasts - Corsairs battles, something like an event.
4)DUBLIN! I miss that so much. And maybe most community here misses it.That made somehow an arse of this game.Firstly, outcasts were allowed to pirate there too,and that was one of the best destination of their piracy.Secondly,Corsairs could do the same, and Dublin was also one of the best place for their piracy actions too.It was somehow really interesting when both unlawful factions' destination of piracy was one system. And the fact that Outacsts and Corsairs didn't like eachother could make that stuff much interesting.
5) CONNECTICUT! I HATE IT. I don't understand the arse of it,and I'm definately against the " /conn ". Firstly, there can be max. 225 players at same time, from that number 15-20 or more players every day, every time plays, fights or pratices in the Conn.
6) An unoficial unlawful fractions with FL IFF and Pirate ID,with a proper RP and such stuff. At the moment there is/was Rorry's Renegades, but their inactivity doesn't make any sense, secondly their "no tag" neither makes any sense.
Conclusion: I'm definately against the Connecticut, I really miss (as most community misses) the Dublin and it's stuff/events. And the ORDERS! Something must be done to improve the meaning of them in this game!

Turret zoom means you zoom to see far targets that are normally out of your view.
Turret steer is defined by Pitch in controls.
Turret zoom, you simply press and drag Ctrl-Z.

Agree, even I found some of new tech stuff to be nasty, however, I do respeckt devs who made them workable, who asked no revard for it, and still, with all does disadvantages which they could make, let them be, just for small reason, as "thanks for your job "
However, things mentioned, that some changes in plot decreased activity and partly fun I found to have a point. I also remember Dublin mining, along with O 7, I remember fun Order/BHG pew, and sometimes I miss those LNS Drd in Minor...
When we have it, we shall not evaluate it, when we loss it, we shall miss it. So let's enjou and value all those good thinks, which makes you log to server and play Disco.

Oh god yes, obviously I miss that. When I see random non vanilla systems like alberta and humbolt spreading players thin, and giving bigger mining bonuses Im just like WTF?
However they say theyr fixing that. I have to agree with Geovode, Im thinking of 4.86 like a test of all the new features, hoepfully theyl optomise it in 87.

Oh the relief..! It's that time of the mod cycle again. I was starting to think it'd never come. Was gettin worried to be honest. One year since the last release, and we're starting to get "The last version was much better" threads again. I love Disco.
That aside, sure, a lot of new features added with 4.86 are flawed at best, and a lot of good stuff we used to have (Like the 'mining rush' days, the one I miss the most) are no more, but I believe we should've already learned after the flood of "4.84 was better" threads back in late 4.85 that by merely stating the obvious that "oh my god 86 sucks" nothing will change. If anything, it'll just discourage the very handful of devs we currently have, seeing as how people are treating their effort for releasing 86 at last.
Not really gonna get involved in the discussion you fine bunch are having here, so gonna cut to the chase and just throw a little suggestion in the pot: What about, instead of sayin how this and that sucks about 86, you give it a few more seconds of thought and say how this and that could've sucked much less if done in another manner. Just a suggestion.
