Some say the same about the Judges regarding faction lore and such.

Not trying to be disrespectful here, but I've seen too many posts with consistent inconsistencies regarding your reputation and lore. One of the mod developers told you he has 'rigorous' standards, on which he got replied the following:

I am truly sorry, but we do not answer to you. You may keep your rigorous standards and God Bless. I am sure the same rigorous standards were in place for each of the other 54 official factions who have done so well for so long. We shall NEVER meet your standards rigorous or otherwise simply because you did NOT write the faction application. Please help someone else if you would be so kind.

Now, here's the kicker guys, YOU DO answer to him, but not just him, you also answer to the game, Discovery RP history and the rest of the playing community. Stop trying to distant yourselves is my suggestion. Go out there, try the ideas people have been posting in this thread, just do it.

And now we are all newbies? We have members including myself who started RP with D&D in 1973. Were most of you even alive then? Shall we provide references or perhaps a resume to convince you that you are not only wrong, but actively insulting?

You cannot attack the hours or the placement so you call us all newbies that once more sit all the time at Newark? Thyrzul is irked we were in Connecticut and he tracked our ships to there? Had he looked a few hours ago earlier would have found nine of us in Coronado. Three of us were in Pennsylvania. Is that okay?? Anyone else irked?? Should we send a daily itinerary to the forums at large for Thyrzul’s personal approval? Is he the official Judge ship tracker? Does anyone else have to do that? Was anyone else asked to do that, ever?

When was the last time you could not get on because the server was full? Is 54 the most number of factions Disco has ever had, or was it closer to 66 one year ago. If you answer those questions truthfully, where can anyone get 25(active) and 22(non-vested) newbie players in one faction?

The self righteous arrogance displayed by a small population to a faction trying to become official is deeply disappointing. It also seems some folks have trouble reading English. Go back and re-read the admission, then read the entire history of Disco, as we DID. Then determine how you would fit into the open spots. We are TRYING. You are NOT.

This stance doesn't help anyone. All I said is that you take in newer players - which some of your members told me themselves, so why deny this? - and this gives you a large playerbase, as well as the fact that many of them are active (which is good) which gives you a great deal of time on the player activity tracker.

I'm not trying to put you down, I'm just replying to you making a relatively big deal out of the number of hours on the clock.

Most importantly, I also didn't say all of you are "newbies". I just said you accept many of them. The same can be said of a faction such as the IMG|, who are very open to relatively new players. That's a good thing! However, it also explain those activity hours.

And hell. You're trying to say there aren't many new players.. You're in Liberty a lot, no? Look around. There's plenty of 'em.

In fact, I even avoided using that exact word - Newbie - because of the potentially negative meaning people often 'attach' to it.

What I feel is this: your faction, as I know it from the past, is basically an in-roleplay version of the Angels. You hang around Manhattan for a number of reasons, I'm sure, but one of them is certainly because you can help out newer players passing by. That's cool. It's commendable. Well done.

However, this new lore doesn't quite reflect what you truly do. The image we're being given is one of an incredibly powerful faction, challenging that of house militaries in the past. You're trying to retcon that into the existing lore, even though there is no real place for such a faction in there, according to quite a few people.

One single word comes to mind: powergaming. Something I despise, as I feel a lot of the server currently seems to be limited by players not wanting "their" faction to do anything but gain power, and thus they're never willing to let anything impact their in-roleplay power if they can avoid it. Everyone's pushing their own factions forward, which prevents a lot of roleplay from ever taking place.

What you're doing is creating new lore that just so happens to also make you incredibly powerful.

As I said in the post I wrote earlier, I believe your best bet to become official is to aim lower. Set yourself up as a new faction - which you actually are - which was founded in a range like 818-820 A.S. The United Nations was founded at a certain point. Now, with Gallia pounding down on Bretonia, and Rheinland and Liberty still stuck in a war, a United Nations wouldn't even be that out of place. Why not -now-, instead of 800 years ago?

Less retcon, far less chance of you conflicting with other factions without discussing things before..

Of course, the side-effect is less in-roleplay power. And if that's what you're after, I suppose that's a good reason not to take this approach.

Hours of activity are no measure of quality. Also, to be blunt, most of your members seem to be relatively new players. This is no false claim - I've roleplayed / spoken to a fair number, and quite a few of them are clearly very new to roleplay. That's not a problem, mind you. With guidance they'll get better. It's only good that you're guiding them.

I am a bit perturbed by the above quote. What constitutes 'new players'? Is it time spent in the game? Or how many posts on the forum you have made? (including all the +1s and other inane comments that I see on the Forums).

I have, in my 30+ years of Role-playing, see many different 'types' of RP. Some, in my opinion, have been very good and others completely rubbish. But I have learnt over the years that 1 persons idea of RP isn't the same as the next. I have found that groups form up with like ideals (even though each group was different in their ideas) each group was RPing. Nobody has the whole answer when it comes to RPing of who is right or wrong.

The Judges (consisting of 25 Judges and approx 5 Cadets at the moment) have a vast range of experience within this game. Some have been playing for years (not necessarily on this Server), a few like myself have been playing for over a year. There are a few others that are relative new comers but I am sure that this is the same for most groups. All of the Judges belong to other 'groups' and never seem to be 'chastised' for their lack of RP. It must be something to do with changing into the Judges uniform (maybe we remove our brains before doing so!)

So my statement to the community, of which we are apart, is that nobody has the right to tell us how to RP. Just because we may not conform to some peoples ideas on how RP is supposed to be carried out doesn't make it wrong.

Just because you collect the new and the pvp oriented players, and build up your activity on the server, train your recruits, all of these won't make you a good roleplaying faction. Numbers of hours mean nothing if you cannot show up with anything useful... or with anything at all besides sitting at Newark and... where now? Conn?

We are condemned when we train inRP and told to go to Conn (ooRP) to train and now we are in the wrong because we are training in Conn. Seriously people DO make up your minds!
A good saying which has always been true and will always true: You can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time.

And pray do tell us what pvp orientated players have the Judges recruited? We generally only fight when we are attacked. We are on a bounty board and you can see the pages and pages (probably too many to count) of the bounties we are collecting. Which part of, we are trying to achieve Neutrality with most if not all groups, did people not understand (see our original request). We are hostile to LR because they put a Bounty on us and to 2 RNC ships that insist on attacking us even though we are 'civilians'! The list is getting bigger as groups decide to attack us. The Torpedoes have now (even though their RP is to 'kill' LN Cap ships) attacked the Judges. I just wonder if this is certain people jumping on the proverbial
bandwagon of 'bashing' the Lepers of society?

If we don't become Official then c'est la vie but at least we tried.

Yes we know we are hamstrung at the moment due to the Freelancer ID. See my post on page 3! As I said in that post 'what ID do you want us to use'? Until the Admins grant us Official Status (or don't, whichever) we cannot ask for an ID that would suit. We have had to assume a Mercenary like approach at the moment but as I already stated that isn't what we are trying to achieve!

If you are aware of this allready? Why not make life into a faction/house, where your Judicial Order would have more to do then in Liberty? The Freelancer ID prohibits what you are actually intending to do. Liberty might be the center of the map, but there is a whole universe out there. Maybe a suggestion as people think its empty there.. Take the Gallic Royal Police ID for example or maybe the Gallic Royal Navy ID. It might for your the Judges itself be a good change. You will bring law and order over there. Wich means you bring activity to those regions. Others will play more there too. But then again the lore would have to be rewritten or adjusted to fit this. (its a mere suggestion)

Flaming, QQ etc is everywhere. Just try to understand what people are trying to point out. Its not that its bad, but in general we all want to contribute to the game on our own way. Have to agree sometimes i can be very MAD myself. But its better to sit back and relax and think about it and decide if they are right or wrong when you have a clear mind. Instead of a clouded one..

First I like to say welcome judges! Now I know you have been around for a while but it is awesome you are trying become official and i wish you the best of luck in doing so. I have seen you in great numbers and get a little worried when and if we invade liberty space what kind and number of forces will you put out to defend liberty! (HAHA just a little Gallia joke) we are not worried at all!(really how many?)

With that said let's talk about the concerns of one person or many on here..............

The answer to that is simple.......Let me explain in more details for even you to understand............Part of this is true the number of hours dont mean crap if you don't learn to go out and do RP. But I must ask what you were doing while you were spying on the judges? I have seen you role playing and frankly you could learn a few things from the judges as I could do also.

really? You really wrote this? When I saw what you wrote I fell out of my chair laughing so hard and scared the cat , I still can't find him! Were you there? really were you? I was they didn't even know i was because they were training so hard, trying out different weapons, using battle tactics against each other and doing some military RP learning as they go. Listen maybe you should step back and think of what to say before you say them or type them because really mate you way out of the loop on this statement. Shall I continue? I must.........I have seen them on transport duty's, i seen them fight pirate, they go after bounty's, they go on patrol a lot and so much more. They just sit on Newark and or conn is a joke! And you should be ashamed for saying it. I think that statement pretty much sums things up on my part on this subject.

I would rather not see a PvP faction full of newbies and with a roleplay background pulled out of nowhere in all of a sudden, not caring about what roleplay others built up in the latest years... well, I'd rather not see such faction achieve official status.

Well I am glad you have no choice in the matter because half of these clans wouldn't be official including yours! These judges do more RP in liberty then all liberty forces combine! My people have seen it and I have seen it in liberty, conn other systems as well. I agree this is a RP server and RP should be the main focus here but when you or others say things not knowing the details about what is happening then you and others run the risk of looking and sounding like a fool. I'm not here to put anyone down because each has it's own opinions and that is great but when statements are throw out there without asking for more details then you do run the risk once again of looking and talking like a fool.




My suggesting if you not sure of their RP abilities or what they are about just jump on a pirate char or police, navy, really anything and go look for yourself. Interact with them. challenge them play you RP just like you expect them to. You wont know nothing about them until you try.

Well I have a company to get back to running before they vote me out of offices! It has been real Judges until we meet in Liberty space I wish your faction the best of luck and good hunting!

My main issue here is that you seem to be ignoring a lot of good suggestions. Because it doesn't matter if the person is smart, dumb, a troll, etc. After all, it's the Discovery Gaming Community. You need to LISTEN to people, admit when you are wrong, and change accordingly. They don't need to listen to you since it's not their faction request that is on the line. I agree, there shouldn't be flaming, but having a response/fix for and problems is good to have.

Also, ignoring people like Echo 7-7 by claiming you don't have to respond to him is a bad decision. He's part of the development team and therefore people, especially Admins, listen to him. And it's the Admins who vote whether or not you actually become official.

Your main issue is that we are ignoring a lot of good suggestions. Please can you point out the GOOD suggestions in the first 4 pages before your post.
1) You spend too much time camping at Newark - Why are you in O-99 then in CR space? Which one of these?
2) You shouldn't train inRP, that is what Conn is for (previous threads) - Why are you training in Conn? you can't RP there! Which of these?
3) Change your ID - question: Which one would suit our purpose? None exist!

Do I need to go on? Maybe you can tell us whose opinions we should listen.

Ignoring people like Echo7-7'. His first real response to our thread was so full of sarcasm and arrogance that any natural person would just ignore it. As I said in my first post we don't object to criticism and suggestions but constructive comments are received better than sarcasm and arrogance.

We have tried answering any questions that have come our way and even tried admitting that we didn't get everything right and we have/are changing things within our group.

As for RP I have seen Official Factions do Preset Message 1 then 2 and then shoot. I suppose it is another form of RP not one that I enjoy but, hey, they enjoy themselves!
