It seems to me that the prison ships and luxury liners in this mod could use some improvement. I think that they should be modified to be able to carry more of their respective specialized cargo than even the large train. Even if there is no way to enable them to carry more of a specific type of cargo, there is a way to make them able to mount special modular equipment.

Lets say you could make a piece of gear that can only be mounted by a prison ship, lets call that piece of equipment a "cell block" that supposedly contains "x" amount of prisoners, and is proportionately worth "x" amount of money. Then that "cell block" could be buyable for a very cheap price in the same place, and proportionately the same price as ordinary prisoner cargo; and transported to a place where prisoners are sold for tons of money. Thus making it worthwhile to have the prison and luxury liners in the game since it would actually be possible to make reasonable money with them.

To make it really worth while the prices should be worked out to allow for more profit transporting prisoners/VIP's respectively than would be possible for a large train; say at least 250% or more profitable, to compensate for the trains capacity to make big bucks on the return trip.

Lets say, if a large train could make $14 mill on a certain round trip transporting VIP's and another type of cargo, (on the return trip) it should be possible to make $16-20 mill on a single one way voyage with a luxury liner transporting these modular VIP transport units.

That way you might actually see people doing cargo runs with prison ships/luxury liners as there would be more to them than just a novelty that has no particular use at all.

Incidentally, it would be necessary to assign a specific cargo value to any such modular units, to prevent anybody from buying/mounting a few on their ship, then dismounting them only to buy more, and ending up with like 80 of them in their cargo bays in the case that they were not assigned a cargo unit value.

Yours truly, Dan.

This too shall pass.

I semi-agree with this.

It's a good idea. it's supposed that a liner should be able to carry more passengers than a train. After all, a liner/prison ship is designed to carry passengers/prisoners, and a train is designed to carry cargo, not people.
Logically, passengers should pay more to travel in a luxury liner than in a cargo ship.

And another suggestion is that lux liners should be able to keep lux foods from going bad and detererating.

This is impossible. Or the effect will be removed from this type of cargo on all ships.

And why shouldn't luxury food "go bad" on a liner?

About VIPs and prisoners suggestion. This can be done theoretically. However liners were not intended for high-profit trade. They have good power supplies and can equip gunboat or cruiser turrets, so that they have firepower no less than of a cruiser. They also can equip battleship shields and - in the same time - capable of carrying more cargo than a battleship. So these ships are a special "combat and trading" type.

So I don't see any particular reason to provide more benefits for liner owners than they have now. Want profits? - get a train.

Because a liner is specifically made to handle luxury meterials like food, as they would freeze the food in their cold storages.

Also, another thought is to ahev lux and prison liners be automatic enemies of pirates, especially prison liners.

Edit: By the way how much does the lux liner cost?

20 million, if I'm not mistaken. Cannot check right now.

Automatic enemy = impossible, and illogical. Remember battleship Hood? What if prisoners take the ship under their control somehow? And luxury liners... Hawaii is in Corsair-Outcast battle zone and they have to be neutral to both and even allow smuggled goods. You should read the news.

Crew will eat up some luxury food however deep into storages you'll put it... and if there are VIPs onboard...

The automatic enemy, if it could be done, would be for the prison liners as they are a military ship for transpoting pirates, thiefs, and other criminals. another thing is, if you could which i doubt, that all pirate pilots that the prison liner tractors should be changed to prisoners instead of pilots as they would eventually end up as prisoners on a prison ship, but i doubt you can do that.
