Since my time in factions is probably one of the lowest considering my time here, I'd like to get a gauge on what you guys think towards other factions.

What do you think is one of the best or just a great success story for a faction? Like, turning a dead one into a great one for fun or even activity? One that has provided lots of lovable lore and characters. Or even just a faction you love interacting with.

In my time, though I am a little biased since I was a part of them, is Bowex, a trading faction that had me in a Clydesdale, and we just destroy anything that dared to pirate us. We all had fun together and had eccentric characters with various moments of joy or randomness. Such as jammi I think it was bouncing about in the lane to the point I had to declare "Jesus man, you're bouncing around like a pair of double D's in a bouncy castle!". I think we had a laugh with that. Big Grin

Any times of joy? Know a faction that really turned things around? I'm genuinely curious since we usually see threads of people whining about them, but without them, Disco wouldn't be Disco. Big Grin

I for one would long have stopped playing were it not for the factions I am with. For me Disco wouldn't be Disco without them and I am not sure I can see myself playing without one. Smile

Disco without the factions wouldnt be the same. I still consider the AGS and das Wilde to be the most awesome faction around, not because of the ingame things we did or do, but because of the rest. Awesome people are what makes a good faction, the rest isnt as important.

This.

Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.

RP would certainly be less fun without them. Joining a faction gives you a sense of aim and purpose. Anything but traders would have far less to do.

AGS was a laugh. Not sure about the RP but the laughs were definitely there, as were some damn good pilots.
(They had to be in that piece of crap, the arbeiter). Some of the stuff that was going on was hard to keep up with as the jokes and one liners were coming in so fast. Boy those guys could fly AND type crap at the same time.

Benitez with the Bretonian raids. Some good times there. The skirmishes with the BAF and IMG were memorable. Good guys in those factions. My liberation from the prison transport out of Newgate was great fun and my heart felt thanks go out to all the Family and the Constables that took part. I believe theres some footage in the Benitez video of that rather epic encounter.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANmXQWNb8XM (Had to put that there).

The massed combat that included all the TBH, OPG/Sails, RoS and 101st as well as the Family that took place in.... well, in lots of places. I include any of the indies that took part and made it what it was. Good fun and good spirit all round. I laughed so hard that time Miguel Shepardi got all his wings shot off and still kept fighting and typing silly insults while he dodged in his now flaming missile the Outcasts best efforts to bring him down.

I had some good times here and despite the changes on this server that I may not agree with, I sincerely hope that some of that spirit of fun lives on.

Let me see now, Wilde is awesome ( from what I could gather they are invite only /invite ) Benitez + TBH and LPI ( before they got screwed ).
Dad das Wilde still my favorite.

Were fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

I like the Hackers because they're stylish and professional.
I like the Congress because they run the underground.
I like the Order because espionage.

The problem I have with factions is that most of them sit on previous achievements and do not do anything to evolve their NPC faction forward. If you have people in your faction, who have the enthusiasm and drive to create new lore, then put them to work, give them power to do that. Do not wait until they leave to start their own group, only to be told that there is already an existing faction and there is no need for two.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

The first real faction I was in was the Hellfire Legion and my time in there has really been a lasting influence on the way I play this game and how I deal with factions. I joined with an existing lawful character who went rogue and once I got in I had the best time I've had on Disco probably. The people were fun and personal initiative was encouraged properly (for me anyway, thinking about my propaganda radio station Hell FM makes me even feel a bit nostalgic) and I slowly climbed the ranks and even got into High Command. It just felt right, slowly progressing through a faction and feeling like you're a part of something enjoyable.

When I became leader of the Volksfront and afterwards (and this currently still is the case in fact) 2iC/adviser of the VWA I always kept in mind that it should be fun, no stress and that it is important people feel involved with the faction. It is a game so no matter how it is inrp, oorp it is all about having fun together and relaxation. No strictness, respect and friendliness are the key. Factions just allow people to have fun together and feel part of something ya know.
