I don't understand the argument that the majority of current Star Citizen fans are 'pewpew' non-RPers, definitely means that the game will be unsuitable for people who like RP and the Discovery community. If the majority have no interest whatsoever in RP, so what? The game has the ability for people to host their own, modified, persistent servers, which is one of the major pluses in Star Citizen's favour. Why would it matter what the climate is like on the official server?

Hardware concerns.
Lack of desire to invest financially in a prospect.
Ignorance.
Concerned with relinquishing perceived established roleplay positions and themes for an environment that wont support it. Afterall, if you're the king of space Bretonia in space Discovery and that's your core game it'd be difficult to find the motivation to embrace a platform which will strip that from you.
Modding is included. Heck, they've a book on the subject that you can pick up. They're providing the instruction manual on the subject.
If I was going to make a Discovery mod with what SC provided I would probably just warp the timeline back to the 300s in Liberty with the idea that StarLancer jump tech wasn't conveniently abandoned by the narrative. Enjoy the prospect of a burgeoning Liberty is attempting to push into unknown surrounding territories where pirates and corporations fight among themselves for the acquisition of wealth and resources in and beyond lawful territory. That'd be a good narrative to work with the shipline and tools that one would have access to at launch.
Doesn't Star Citizen have a crazy number of solar systems? What is to stop people from gathering the support in game and declaring 'I be the King here!', and govern over a few systems? I hope that the game is modifiable enough to support the creation of various factions.

Plan is to launch with 100. The routes into most of them will need to be "explored". Think of the idea behind the hidden jumphole leading to Omicron Gamma. The difference being that the "exploration" game will be something of a miniprofession, not something that pops up when you fly by the hole on an alt looking for it.
Furthermore planets will be a resources manufacturing center.
So, yes, one could conceivably chart a road into the ass end of the galaxy and establish a fiefdom. A number of groups are putting together to do just that.

Your very own system for an Idris pls.
Im looking forward to the 300i Brochure, but I would also like to see an upgrade on the renders for the connie, probably because I own one.
I imagine you'll be getting your Connie brochure smartly. Lost out to the 300i by a hair.
Is it just me or does the 300i look a little bit like a Saber made tender love to a Falcon? There's some definite CTE and BW lines there. Can't wait for the interior shots.
Which breaks my heart, given that I'm waiting on the Freelancer. Though, if I'm not mistaken, both the Freelancer the Constellation have seen an overhaul. So what we get may be altered in some way from the images we've been fed thus far.
Some fans recently had a chance to visit the CIG offices and came back with an epic video shot, giving an robust tour of the prototype hanger and a nice tour of three of the pledge ships, the first 14 ships to be available when the game goes from beta to live. I thought some of you might appreciate, at the least, the spaceship porn.
Switchback if you need the Connie closer stuff I guess it is in one of the older jump-points: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/cdn-r...hureV2.pdf
seems even the first Jump point that is public if one need the rest JPs PM.

(yes, i've seen enough of those lolduels, where house military with overwhelming force on the field willingly loses a pilot in a duel. ffs.)
well its a nice game... but it would've been nice if it had 3rd Person... Chris Roberts mentioned on an interview (which is new by the way) "Sorry my Freelancer friends, but there is not gonna be a 3rd person like in the Space Sim games". Maybe for Capital Ships but still no for smaller crafts. However if the community manages it to QQ about it hard enough, maybe we might get 3rd person
