The Lane Hackers have an "in character" recruitment thread already, but I want to make few comments that can't be said "in character".
1. The philosophy which guided the formation of all The Lane Hacker faction protocols is :
~ Limitations create Challenges. Challenges create Risk. Risk encourages Teamwork. Teamwork creates Great Fun.
In a nutshell, those are the gameplay goals of the faction : Challenge, Risk, Teamwork, Fun.
2. The entrance requirements for The Lane Hackers may be the most difficult and extensive of any faction on Disco. They are intended to accomplish 4 objectives : A) Pre-screen out immature players who just want to join a clan to blow stuff up B) Challenge a recruit to use their ingenuity and grit to accomplish their recruitment tasks C) Provide an opportunity for every Lane Hacker to fly the Dagger at least once in their LH career, since that is the most ubiquitous and obvious Lane Hacker exposure that most people see from the Hacker NPCs D) Teach the Lane Hacker recruit through first-hand experience to behave like an outnumbered and outgunned pirate, rather than an uber pwnzer
3. The stringent career promotion requirements have been carefully crafted to ensure that members learn Disco's rules, the LH faction procedures, and how to authentically role-play as a unique type of pirate : The Lane Hacker. Practical and material criteria are combined with specific role-playing criteria to develop a well-rounded player. They aren't necessarily simple or easy, but they are carefully designed to constantly point members in the direction of authentic Lane Hacker roleplaying and activities.
4. The Lane Hacker faction is NOT what I call a "PvP faction". It is a "Roleplaying faction". In other words, if you completely remove Player vs Player combat, The Lane Hackers still have activities to pursue, because we exist for more than scoring player kills. Nevertheless, Lane Hackers have ample opportunities for very challenging PvP, and also the chance to train their skills with teammates who are among the best pilots on the server. (For the record, I'm not one of them.)
5. Members are required to submit a biography of their character to advance in rank, and are given an impressive incentive to create one very early in their membership. Well developed Lane Hacker characters are unique, interesting, and essential to our objectives.
I am proud that these goals and procedures have combined to create a fantastic team of mature players...who are vastly outnumbered by the lawful forces in Liberty, but who still manage to rack up an impressive number of combat kills.
We are recruiting, but we aren't looking for just anyone. We are looking for mature players (not necessarily veterans of Disco) who are willing to be creative team-players, as well as ruthless pirates.
Any Lane Hacker members who wish to make a statement about their Lane Hacker experiences are welcome to do so in this thread.
All applications for membership should be made "in character" in the recruitment thread.

But buddy, you did a beautiful job, you are a really good example of a mostly RP faction. You have been able to make a good faction that deserve everyone's respect.
Thank you for your patience with us and the good work you did with your faction and your members
I don't know the purpose of this thread, or are "non LH's" allowed to respond, but I have to anyway.
If it is forbidden, please ignore/delete my post.
Since the day one of LH's existence, and seeing their proposal, I have seen something different and unique, comparing to the rest of the factions.
Their "filtrating" system, to call it that way, though it's purpose isn't only filtrating, it's also a challenge, is one of the best things this, or any other faction, has to offer.
My personal opinion is that LH faction is, at the moment, the best faction on Discovery server.
I don't mean to offend anyone, I just think that LH faction is most complex of all factions on this server, and in the same time is the closest thing to Vanilla faction.
Have in mind that this is only personal opinion, that I'm entitled to.
As an officer of the LPI, i have met the LH chaps more then once, and I can say with high certainty that they are not by any means looking for excuses to pick a fight.
They are even avoiding lawful forces near populated areas, if there isn't enough LH members online. And that is one of the best roleplaying things I'v seen so far.
Strict limitations and strict ways of roleplaying have made this faction very popular in my eyes.
Even the most experienced players are forced to begin their progress in LH faction just as anyone else.
Everyone has the same chance to prove himself.
The only reason I didn't (try to) join the LH so far is because I'v picked the LPI instead, in lack of lawful characters on my accounts, and too many unlawful ones.
If you are new, and want to learn how to play on this server, LH faction is the best option for you, but only if you are willing to follow their instructions and limitations.
In the end i have to give a Kudos to Xoria, for making this faction the way he did.
And all other factions, new or old, should follow his example.
I have no reason to speak so nicely about the LH other then being charmed by it.
I am not a member of this faction, so my opinion is objective as much as my opinion can be objective, not objective meaning that all other objective opinions should be same like mine.
Huh, never mind.
Anyway, Kudos to Xoria for making it existent!

If the LPI wasn't set up as a faction that is purely based on fun, and joking around, I would want to model it after the LH. We have our own filtering system, starting off new people and the like in Patriots to weed out the PvP-whores and encourage RP.
However, the LH takes it several levels farther, and for that, I salute you Xoria.
... Wow, that's not even the half of it. Dodging BHG Battlecruisers in my little Dagger and wasting rank 29 Xenos while I have barely any guns is much more fun that I thought it would be. Getting out of the Dagger is hard work, but it doesn't get any easier, and I'm still not all the way through the ranks. Still got piracy to do and people to interact with. Only three more requirements (or is it four?) before I can get a bomber.
I thought RM had an interesting rank system... This goes way beyond. And is something I would implement if it weren't necessary to fly Wraths and bombers to counter enemy fighters, bombers, gunboats, cruisers, battlecruisers, and battleships. Sometimes all in the same fight. LH gets into that, but they have the option to run away and hide on Mactan. Running in Rheinland leaves the citizens open to attack.

Still, LPI is second best in my eyes;)
We are more trying to find funny ways to RP funny cops, and less being an organized and functional police faction.
And I like it the way it is, it is unique as well.
We are not worse, we are totally different.
Kudos to you too for taking most of the job upon yourself.

Well in the LH you definitely learn to fly a LF..... and pirate.... I was not really good at pirating at all... but having to collect 10million + the constant huge repair costs on the Slipstream made me learn...
And yes if you see an LH close to Manhattan.. take a picture.. that happens like once in a month.
But there are a few problems...
no more members coming in as of late...
some members are getting a bit tired of the usual scenario:
You go to pirate on a Trade Lane.. stop one trader... then 2 BCs, 4 GBs and or 8 fighters with random Police/Navy/BHG/ Mercenary ID/Tag combination arrive.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.

My first touch with LH was a little bit scaring off couse of the enormous amout of things to read and memorize. Just count how long takes scrolling down the first post in message dump. On the other hand I was frankly amazed that someone could put such incredible ammout of effort and work to create such well-organized and complex clan. At the beggining I was very very sceptical about my chances to get into. At that time I also knew that it isn't a place for everyone what made me more convinced that I want to check myself and take up a challenge. Now I can admit that was worth of it.
If someone is looking for pvp pwning fun he should stay out of LH. It's developed to determine/learn/extort from members a Role Play behavior with full meaning of those words. LH is a challange for people who are determined enough to put a lot work in creating their character and up on a ladder of the Lane Hacker career which is probably one of the most challanging from all Disco factions. And what is most important whole your effort and work will be given back to you in 100% in the form of satisfaction, fun and pleasure of playing as a Lane Hacker among the Lane Hackers.
Those are words of a guy who has started his fun with Discovery about 1.5 month ago and he says with full belief that it is one of the most enjoyable time he have ever spent in front of his computer.
I'v joined the 'LH' just a week ago.
When the clan first started, I had nothing but nice words for it, as well as later, before i joined.
It was all theoretical, based on what I read on board and maybe just a few meetings in the game.
Now I can say a few things from my experience in the past few days.
For one, I got a totally new look on the Liberty space.
On my LPI character, those things couldn't be seen, as well as some things that I saw on my LPI char can't be seen on my LH. Logical, eh?
Anyway, now I can see that Liberty is pretty much overwhelmed by lawfuls of all kinds.
Lawful : Unlawful ratio is about 3:1 at least. Maybe that's the way it should be in the real world, but I'm not convinced it should be like that in FL.
Now a few things about the clan itself.
-Progress technique is the best off all Disco factions. There is no doubt in that.
Maybe a bit too much for new people to swallow, but those who are persistent will work their way trough.
Those who are not interested in committing can always find another 'easier to play' faction.
But for those who are persistent, I can guarantee you that you will learn many things in the Lane Hackers.
I have been on Disco for almost 6 months, and I still learn in the Lane Hackers.
Mostly strategies, tricks for escaping (like the one with a Nuke > Lane, didn't know that before I'v seen it in the document), pirating techniques and improving my skills in a light fighter.
Progress is almost impossible without basic knowledge about RP, so people who are mindlessly looking only for PVP should not join.
However, those who want to learn to RP - this is the right faction for you.
Your progress won't be fast, but once you pass the first stage, you will already be ready for most things you can encounter on this server.
-People in the LH were really great when I joined. Patient people, as well.
I'v made quite a 'few' mistakes in my short career, and they still haven't lost their temper with me.
They were also more then happy to transfer their knowledge to me, some things i knew, some things i didn't, as stated earlier.
-Though it's not a 'PVP clan', LH has some really good fighters, so you will be able to learn a lot of things from them. With their guide you will quickly become far better then you were before you joined. Guaranteed.
-LH doesn't have as many members as some other factions do, and the reason probably lies in that 'strict' stance of it's leader.
Which is, actually, a very good thing.
As the time is passing, more people will slowly join, but those people will be the right people.
It's some kind of a 'filtrating' system. And no, I don't mean that it's an elitists clan, far from that.
Everyone can have a shot, and everyone who shows only that he is willing to learn will succeed.
Of course we are not rejecting people because they are going to die in the first 10 seconds of fight.
Of course we are not rejecting people because they don't know to RP.
They will learn from us.
-You will see a lot of 'unfair' fights, and that I can guarantee you.
Unfair in the meaning of numbers. We still manage to win most of those fights.
Not because we'r looking for trouble, but because it seems 'lawfuls' in liberty are pretty much bored and are looking for action.
So, they come to us.
To be short, my experience in the LH so far has been - educational and refreshing!
I'v learned quite a few things I didn't know, and I'm seeing all the stuff I'v never seen before.
How many people actually do Pirating on the Trade Lanes? Yup, that's us.:)
All in all, I will just quote the best description for the LH :
Quote:The Most Challenging Piracy Career in Sirius
