I don't doubt your intentions make the most sense for you, and that each one of you wants to protect Omega 49 from the other. However, the mess you made the other day with the bombing of Gran Canaria has been incredible.

I 'm not a resident of this planet, but I'm here for a few weeks for some business, and I've observed what type of life have people of Gran Canaria. The truth is that I found a rather quiet and nice, and its inhabitants seem happy. Or at least it seemed, until you decide to bomb the surface of their home furiosly from your powerful battleships.

The horrors that this massacre has provoked, I had not seen in years. How can you claim to be protecting a planet while you submit it under the fire of your mortars? One of my assistants took this image from the window of the hotel where I stay. The image is a simple example of the destruction that has taken place due to the bombing.

Although I don't share it, I can understand that your political differences require be resolved through war, but, in the Holy Name of Deux, the civilian population of Gran Canaria doesn't need more pain. With that you've already provided it's enough. Don't bombard the planet again.

At the moment NCC has sent the Pontifical Carrier Magallanes, Aquilon class, to the orbit of Gran Canaria, with a cargo of medicines and personnel prepared to intervene if it should happen a humanitarian crisis.

I have to say no, our Carrier is not disarmed. We're people of Deux, and peaceful, but certainly we're not idiots. Only the trip of our ship to Omega 49, would be enough dangerous to justify their weaponry, not to mention other dangers as the Nomad threat.

However, you must not worry for this. The crew of the Magallanes will not open fire on Empire ships or intervene in this conflict militarily. This is a totally humanitarian mission, and we're only concerned about the safety and health of the inhabitants of Gran Canaria. Deux doesn't get involved in politics, and neither do we.

Anyway, if you still are not convinced, you can contact Señor Miguel Sephardi in Crete, currently gracious host of His Holiness Paolus LXIV, Pontiff of the NCC. He will certainly be able to tell you about our Holy Church and its role in this corner of Sirius.

We're a Church, Señor Comisario, not an army. Our job is to help our human brothers and sisters, not hide spies or intrigue against the Empire.

I agree with you that it really would be very disgusting if it should appear some kind of trouble between your brave Carabineros and my humanitarian personnel. It would be much better than both of us dedicate our efforts to achieve peace and to help the population of Gran Canaria. I'm sure in that matter, we both want the same thing.

On other thought, SCRA is incapable of distinbuishing "authoritarian dictatorship" from "power to the people" and Corsairs do not give a flying crap about collateral damage. Seems you will make a "good" pair in the end.
