Totally new guideline here. Strange that no one ever thought about that one before. Interesting... 20%... hmmm.

@40mil should be fine
And then you'd have to take into account that it has expensive escorts, and that it's prolly gonna be pirated more than once. Maybe you should give the poor Barge some cash instead, so he doesn't miss out on his profit.

Seriously!!! Owning a Barge that costs 34234 Bazillions and cheap out on a CAU 8... *facepalm* Hang on a sec while I laugh my butt off!

LOL

That would cost him a-lot
You sure don't miss much, do ya! Tongue

Seriously! Sindroms has the right idea. There's such a huge profit when trading with a Barge, that it's only fair that the risks should be higher. Cleaning out the hold is gonna make them think twice about getting a good escort. If the pirates use cruisers and BS, then maybe it's a good idea to buff your defenses a bit. And then you'll see that a CAU 8 is actually useful. Damn! Still laughing at that! I wonder what's next. Maybe caps without heavy armor...

Barge has 1,700,000 hull
Put a Cap8 on it, and that's 6,800,000
Assuming that they have the highest shield, that adds a regenable 100,000 shield to it. (900u/s, 12 second recharge time)

With a shield, that's 7,150,200 damage needed to be done (With recharge delay, time, etc factored in)

Barges have 800 nanobots and shield bats. With a cap8, that's 2,400 hull per nano and 300 shield per bat. That adds another 2,160,000 health to the Barge

Total hull health: 8,720,000
Total shield health: 590,200

Overall, the single bomber would need to do 9,310,200 damage before something comes to kill it

A SNAC does 22,440 hull damage per second, and 11,220 shield damage per second.

Time needed to take out shield: 52.6 seconds (Let's say 53 so it can be easy)
Time needed to take out hull: 388.59 seconds (Again, round up to 389)

Assuming that the bomber has an infinite powercore and doesn't miss a shot, it would take 442 seconds, or 7 minutes 22 seconds for a lone bomber to kill a cap8 Barge.

That doesn't seem much, but people suck at aiming, and not all bombers are fountains of infinite powercores, so it'd take longer

Although I'm probably wrong, since I suck at math

Never calculate bomber damage based on DPS. Remember that you are at the mercy of your power regen, not your weapon cooldown.

There's a point where everyone says it's time to stop with numbers, and my point is trying to figure out DPS based on a powercore's ability to regen.

EDIT: Fine Spazzy, you win

I'm using a Roc's stats for this. Why a Roc? Because I say so

A Roc has a core of 38,200u with a regen of 1,722u/s
a SNAC uses 27,740u per shot with a regen of roughly 5.9 seconds

Assuming the Roc's core is full when he makes the first shot, and shoots every time he has exactly enough energy

First shot: 0 seconds, remaining energy: 8,460
Second shot: 12.4 seconds, remaining energy: 0
Third shot: 17.3 seconds, remaining energy: 0

After the third shot, it's the same amount of time for every shot

It would take total 9 SNAC shots to completely drain the shield
9 shots, assuming the first two shots were to the shield, would take 133.5 seconds

It would take 66 SNAC shots to drain the hull
66 shots, assuming the first two shots were to the shield, would take 1141.8 seconds.

Overall, it would take 1275.3 seconds, or 21 minutes 12 seconds (Based on a Roc's powercore)

when pirating anytime, always use the sindrom die system. then multiply by 10 for barges.

I wouldn't pitrat a barge for anything. I mean, that just sounds absolutely dreadful, doesn't it? Truely terrifying for both parties involved. Not for kids.

Wise move. Most pirates would have justified anything else as a refusal to pay and just started shooting.

Pirates suck.

I dont have a pitrat, i have a Colonial.

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
