Okay, so remember THIS thread? Yeah, this is a continuation of that.

I recently found the original subwoofer for it, with the inbuilt amp. I would simply adore to have this little set in my office. However, here is the problem. My old PC has a simple sound card with the usual 3,5mm jack.

Problem is...here is the BACK of the subwoofer, where all the good stuff connects.

And here are the stats for it, if that helps:

Also, I have around 10 pairs of these cables:

And I need to connect that to 5 of these:

Question is, how do I do this? I understand that I cannot make it into a proper 5.1 system. Heck, I would love if it could even play in mono. Question here, how do I hook them up?

Should I cut up the input cables and plug them in everywhere possible? If so, how? :|

Halp.

So, I had a laptop that only had a 3.5mm jack and a 5.1 system, that I also made into a functioning stereo.

I used this thing here, and thankfully my sub took the input as 3 separate channels, same as yours, but each in a jack - so the laptop was one 3.5mm jack, split through the Belkin to three 3.5mm jacks. In your case, you'll either need to buy or make a splitter which you can then plug those three 3.5mm jack -> composite audio cables into.

If you're desperate for a splitter, I have a theoretical MacGuyver (whatever) -esque idea in mind.

Get some electrical tape. Lay down 2 strips of wire along the tape, parallel, spaced for the 3.5mm jack channels. Lay down the four 3.5mm males across the tape, and lay tape back over the top to secure. Not a permanent solution and probably not even going to work, or at most even last long - but you won't really find shorts or surges likely, and the voltages involved are mild to say the least.

TL;DR PROFESSIONAL OPINION: Hire a sparky, they'll figure it.

Thing is, my father said he would simply connect some of the inputs/outputs with very short cables, but he is not around anymore. So I have nobody to ask just how exactly did he do it.

I'm sure if you find the cables he speaks of, you'll figure it out.

But if we could find cables as easily as we wished, well.

Downedit: Good luck!

Holy shait, I actually noticed I have an old sound card gathering dust. So I suppose all I need now are spare jacks and male connectors to actually hook it up...

Good luck connecting 6 outputs to single 3,5 stereo(2 inputs left/right).
The Belkin thing is total fail - you have converted your 5.1 to bugged 2.0 GG.
It is meant to split the stereo signal to multiple headphones- nice feature when you are out and want to watch a movie on laptop/listen music with friends in environment where you cannot use speakers. Some high end laptops/my Dell XPS/ got variable software controlled jacks- I can can have 3 inputs or 3 outputs simultaneously- useful feature.

The cheapest answer to this is to buy cheap supported here: http://kxproject.com/ card on Ebay for less then 10E, then download the drivers and go nuts. My tip is also ESI Prodigy X-Fi NRG R - cheap and good card for around 40E or less.

The expensive answer is to get Honar or ESI or E-MU or AuzenTech or anything professional- at least 150E.

You also need bulk copper double wire to wire all of the satellites to the sub- red to red, black to black:

try to get the thickest that fit the holes.

This too.

Good luck.

You'll need speaker cable for those satellites. It's easy to get. http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog_v3....ype=subcat
Those red and black things at the top of the rear of the subwoofer snap the cable into place. Likewise at the back of the satellites. (The satellites don't look like they have any other inputs.)
Don't waste your time cutting up the cables you have. But they won't be any good to you here I think.
