Gangsters, thugs, and the likes use curse words frequently, it's just part of their "lifestyle". Why can't we properly RP like one, instead of having to tiptoe around swearing and use sophisticated insults on an obviously unsophisticated character?

Using cuss words doesn't make you sophisticated, no matter if your character is a thug or not.

If a BS uncloakes in front of you......what's wrong with saying "Egads!" or "Holy CRAP" or "#@%$^!!!"

You know what's great about the last example? Because that obviously represents cussing, yet you don't have to use any real cuss words, AND the players get to use their own imaginations about what you said. And nobody gets sanctioned for actually cussing. WIN-WIN. What's the problem with that?

As I said before...I'm sure for many of you, your time playing this game is the one part of your day where you are actually not cussing (at least not on the screen), so what the heck is so terrible about that?

I know this isn't real life, but you can still have a place for stereotypes and such. Ignoring the fact that swearing is a real world thing that cannot be translated into online video games, more specifically where the player can decide the thoughts and actions of his/her character is just pure stupidity in my eyes.
If you also believe we shouldn't make the transition of real world conversation into the game, I believe you should double check the definition of role-play:

Samuel L. Jackson doesn't cuss in every movie he's in. Now take a show like "Burn Notice": There are spies, cops, and thugs in that show and they're not dropping F-bombs all over the place. But I'm not here to debate taste in media.

It often is translated into video games...and those are rated M for mature. If the Admins decided they want this server to be E for everyone...then why don't you try to conform to their style instead of trying to change it to suit yours? There is plenty of real-world conversation that doesn't involve cussing. I just don't believe it's necessary to cater to the lowest common denominator. I don't believe any serious RPer should be disappointed they must make their pirate/rogue character say something akin to "Darn it!" instead of saying "F___k!" That's where a person's creativity can come into play - which is the essence of RP.

edit2: the snakes on a plane line did not live up to the hype. great marketing, poor execution I must say. and yes technically samuel was insulting snakes, and if you're an avid peta member you'd uderstand that snakes are ppl too

edit3: also when supposedly cursing, use caps. Shout when your character is shouting, amplifies the effect

Do you see how many admin posts are in this 9 page long thread? One, only one, and that wasn't even an important or serious post.

That's how trivial and unimportant this "issue" about cuss words is. There's so much more important stuff to change and fix than a rule about cussing, the fact this thread has 9 pages is so extremely laughable that it would be in bad taste to actually laugh.
