I was just in OmicronTheta and a Junker PC decided that my cargo was something I should part with.

Being in a heavily armored Freighter, I said, "No."

...and proceeded to run and fight my way out.

More than once I got this attacker's shields down to nothing, while the attacker got my shields only 50% twice, when I was focused on "running" instead of firing back. Once I started shooting back, the "attacker" couldn't do enough real damage to cause my shields to budge, since my weapons are more powerful.

I just plotted a course to the base I was heading to and casually "drifted" in that direction shooting at the attacker to continue to dissuade the rather futile attempts at gaining my goods.

I docked after sitting outside the station for a few minutes, really honestly bored of being hit with a BB Gun that barely registered a hit while firing back with my big guns.

Is that considered "running"?

The attacker put me in no danger. If you are in such a match are the server rules basically tough it out and wait until the BB Gun shooter just gives up and decides to pester someone else? I wasn't giving up my cargo, which basically meant the attacker had to destroy me to get it.

If I really have to sit in one place for 4 hours because a BB Gun bouncing off my shields are the rules, this can really be open to griefing.

If you are a trader id'ed trans reengaging rules dont nessaceraly apply, If you get killed by a pirate you can come back in less than 4 hours. It a grey area. As Igiss said(I think it was him) 'you wanna keep dying, keep on coming'.So I think you could come back anyway.

Someone (a PC) asked you for your cargo?
Nice.
Uh, yeah.
Traders get around reengagement rules....basicly, you just keep trading.

Wait a minute, you are a Trader ID'd player and you were attacked by a Battleship....Isn't that against the rules? Or am I just thinking of demanding cargo and tax? I probably am.

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

I don't think the Junker was in a battleship, "BB gun" refers to a quasi-toy gun used for shooting practice. Its basically harmless, and I think that's why he brought it up. If the Junker was in a battleship and failed to beat up his shields, then we have several completely different problems: first off, demanding cargo, second off, ID says no BS if I remember correctly, and finally why is he mounting justice MK I turrets on a bship?

But yeah, the rules for re-engagement type stuff should be edited for reasonable forces; that would fix the cap-whores from being able to force their way into fighter engagements (fighters could cruise away to debris field and continue it there without having rules quoted at them in miffing system chat no less), as well as make people not have to be griefed by little fighters they don't feel like or aren't armed well enough to kill but still can't be touched by.

You're a trader, keep on trucking. You can come and go as you please, although it doesn't logically make sense to keep flying thorugh the same area where you've been blown up over and over again.

Concerning BS and transports, you can't kill a transport in a capital ship of any class. I've had this one straightened out, a Transport is way too easy pickings for anything of cruiser size or above, the transport can't run and it can't fight back. So you can't pirate a transport in a cap ship and you can't toast a transport in a capship.

If you managed to run away, you'v won. It was mentioned in a separate thread once.
If a trader docks, he can continue his route once he's safe.
He did flee, but fleeing rules don't apply for him.

However, if you die, you shouldn't use the same route.
It's quite simple.

If he failed to drop your shields below 50% then he wasn't engaging.

If you dropped his shields below 50% then you engaged him, it's basically common sense.

If you see you're doing little to no damage then fly off, because it's pointless to keep trying.

I'd personally have done my best to pop the little bugger if he wouldn't back off, then he has to stay away for 4 hours and maybe get some better guns.

Thanks for the responses.

It was a Junker, I wasn't aware that they could do pirating in the first place.

Being a Trader, I will stick to doing my trade runs then.

Junker ID lets them attempt to snatch cargo, but not credits so far as I'm aware. Well, that was the general idea I got when I was reading the ID of a Junker Firefly shooting Xenos outside of Ouray and not being able to do anything about it...
