With Angelfire and RepEx 007 (Aka 'Nick') I'm kinda limited to a more serious RP vibe.

Sometimes I play during work hours to 'de-stress'... heh heh

So I'm starting a toon that is more for chilling and laughing...

I was thinkin maybe a crazy pirate that extorts a trader here and there but spends most of his time lookin for trouble with johnny law.

I started one.eyed.eddie last night and had a good laugh... most players interact very nicely with cheeky pirates... i am willing to start another toon based on your advice tho.

So ere's me questions...Arrrr!

Note - he's not a serious fella, but it's still RP all the way.

- what faction would suit a pirate that is more prone to naughtiness than maliciousness.

- Are there any player factions that already have this 'vibe?'

- what ship would you suggest is cool for just 'hangin' around trade routes.

I'm thinking of a cool lookin cruiser or maybe even a battleship, not sure if that would make RP sense tho... anyway, advise and flame away.

thank yaz.

Well, for cheekiness, I guess Junker could work well, or maybe Molly.

Or, if you want to go beyond cheekiness (and piracy... it's for chumps!:P), to downright sassy revolution, there's always us SCRA folks.

Junker would probably be the best for a cheeky pirate...nothing bigger than a Gunboat, though, because of that nasty, nasty little server rule...the most decent pirating ship is usually a bomber; it can pack four of the heaviest guns you can find, fire them all, and STILL recharge as it's doing it, AND a CD, AND an Inferno/Mini-Razor/Supernova. I'm fond of the Red Catamaran, myself, but the Barghest is a good ship for pirating and sitting around in, because it's so thick-skinned. As far as Gunboats go, I'd stick with the Rogue. It's a very sloppy, slapped-together piece, very agile. As for general mischief making, the Rogues are good, if you're looking for action in Liberty. Bretonia, the Gaians can be very fun, I've got one. The thing there is you have to roleplay an incompetent academic, not an idiot...that's more difficult to do. Rheinland, a Bundschuh might be best, if you want to make a socialistic wierdo who does a lot of shouting. Kusari...I don't know. They aren't really conducive to hijinks.

If you want to "de-stress" then whatever you do, DONT CHOOSE A LIBERTY PIRATE! Seriously, it's horrific. You pirate somebody, you see 5 BCs on your radar, you begin to run, you run into 3 BSs and 2 Cruisers on the other side, you phail. You die.

Piracy is easy like make instant soup. First you need cca 50m investment. Do you havet? ok time to buy bomber, armor uppgrade mk VIII, inferno and supernova... rest of guns are on you.. maybe codies or debies (debies for full anti big ship vessel or codies for realy small chance againt fighters - 0 chance against LF if pilot isnt total noob).

or

do piracy in starflyer... most of traders pay you because "aaaaaah inst that cute?"..... but thats wrooooooong! because that is brutal OORP but it realy works

for seriously funny rp, join the LH. But that will up your stress lvl like you wouldnt believe. For just your goofy pirate, I use a molly.

I still insist roleplaying a cute little pirate girl in age to procreate in a cute little starflea can amass an interesting sum of money.

I pirate in a LF mostly and in Lib. Liberty is one helluva challenge because of all the bored lawfuls; it is why I do it. As far as "taxing" try what I do and ask for three to five cargo or a ridiculously low sum, say 50 grand. See how many will choose to fight with 3000 credits on the line, it is hilarious.
