Shield limitations

I vboted yes, that ruins it for all when people do that, My other server (ioncross total war) had the same problem. Well heres an idea to fix it. Instead of putting it at a level 10 make a new level. But they had it named so istead of it saying "Level 12 shield" it said "Cruiser Shield" or Light fighter shield" and u coudnt mount the light fighter shield on a heavy, it was class for class and so on. same with guns instead of saying "level 4 gun" it said "Rhienland light wepon" and you could only mount the light wepons. But with that said i know it will be almost impossible for us (i shouldnt say that cause i am not a helper in making it) that its almost impossible to do, they did it cause they got a 200+++ with programming and such. Will anyone take this opinion into concideration? Josh Out

They do something similer in Evolutions with the cap-ship shields. Fighter shields stay same but Gunboats have Gunboat Shield slot, Gruisers Cruiser Shield slot, BS BS Shield slot.

The Luxury/prison liners have a Champion shield but if you check it is an upgraded one. It has a shield of (I think) 20k. All we would need to do is change the name.

Ok, but why?

If equipped well they can pound the **** out of or destroy most Cruisers / Destroyers they come across.

I mean that a in fight e.g

A luxury liner Vs a Kusari destroyer, the destroyer has an advantage of 2 turrets, the liner is more agile.

A prison liner Vs a Britonian destroyer, the liner has a 2 turret advantage and it is more agile. The destroyer has more hull armour.

A prison liner Vs a Liberty cruiser, the liner again has more agility and has one turret more then the cruiser. The cruiser has the advantage of more hull armour and the forward gun (though it wont be able to hit the liner most of the time).

A luxury liner Vs a Rhienland cruiser, the liner is more agile. the cruiser has 4 more turrets, more hull armour.

A luxury liner Vs a huegenot, the liner and the huegenot are both pretty agile. the huegenot has 3 more turrets, 2 gun mounts and more armour.

(assuming they are all using the same shield and armour upgrades.)

They are really cheap too (for a capital ship that is).

This is why I would like to know what ship class they are going to be and what shield class they are going to be allowed to use.

they are liners so, in a way - transports (for people) and IMO should be able to take out one cruiser in combat (nevermind the actual situation in game) if the commander has enough skill, but they should also travel around with escorts enabling the group to take out a single cruiser.

The point I'm trying to make is that a single luxury liner could probably at least cripple a BS. Two of them will almost definately destroy a BS.

So are they going to be classed a Cap-ships?

Are they going to be classed as transports like the large train?

keep in mind that every ship here including BS can be destroyed by one swift and good equiped fighter with decent pilot...despite how strong shields are...
all cap ship exept maybe gunboats have weps to attack other cap ships. That kind of weps are strong, slow and need a lot of energy.....so cruisers, destroyers and BS are equiped to fight one another...not equiped for fighting against a fighter....and they are slow...very slow....i know it needs a lot of shooting to kill a BS but fighter with some swarmers, shiled busters, nova mines and anh highg speed shooting weps can bring down shileds in rather short time....and few more mines..and the BS is destroyed...

my point is this when u limit the shileds power or class..keep in mind that we have very heavy fighters equiped with more fire power then a gunboat and they are much faster...harder to hit....
i have bret destroyer and i will equip it with weps for fighting other cap ships...not fighters ....for that i have my fighter....

so if i can destroy cap ship with fully equiped fighter that costs about 5 or 6 mill with equipement...why would i need a cap ship that costs much, much more and get beaten by a talon or any of that kind ships

so for now those shields are only things that are making any balance between fighters and caps...

i dont agree with having BS shiled on gunboat....but keep in mind for next beta release that this needs very delicate balancing of fire power and defense systems...


example:

yesterday i fought against one talon figter and got destroyed quit easy..i didnt eve bring his shields down....i have bret destroyer...
little later i fought against liberty cruiser with BS shields...we fought about 15 mins with out any damage to one another....cruiser was better equiped than me and still it couldnt harm me....

how can i fought against another desrtoyer or cruiser and even battle ship and come out that fight unharmed...and fighter kills me under 5 mins....

we need more balance....

Not true. Ask Korrd. Me and Darkwulf fought his Enterprise RH BS. Its a big target too, easier to hit than a destroyer or cruiser. Me and Dark both died 4 times before we gave up. We never got the shields down. A cap-ship that is decently armed and is handled decently can destroy a fighter or two. Though I still disagree with the statement that Igiss will slightly reduce the cap-ship shield strength again. If anything I think it should be highered just a bit more. Since we started this version I have actually been reluctant to attack anything bigger than a gunboat in a fighter.

BTW Darkwulf had an Eagle with Novas, tizonas, and Wildfires. I had 4 tizonas, 4 codenames, supernova mines, and a nova. None of it got even close to destroying his ship.

Since I think I know who you were fighting (Had a wraith tag right?) I can comment on this. He is quite a good pilot. Better than me at taking down cap-ships but not as good against fighters. So as I was saying he is good at killing cap-ships and better than almost everyone (if not everyone) here at it with fighters. So I wouldn't use him as a measure of how to easily a fighter can kill a cruiser/destroyer. I have bveen killed in 4 out of 5 fights with a cruiser/destroyer since this new version. And usually I could take them out singlehandedly without losing my shield. I think the strength of cap-ships has seriously been enhanced and is good as it is. But it might be a good idea to increase all the cap-ship shields by 5k-7k for cruisers, 8-10k for BSs, and 3-4k for gunboat shields.

Yeah people BS shields are called Bs shields for the reason that they are to be on BSs only. same goes for cruisers and BSs. And yes Angel's right about the lux liners. Liners such as the Jensei should not be able to feild those types of weapons and fire them as fast as they do. They should have energy cores the size of a gunboat, not cruiser/battleship. For example the Jensei should be no match for a Kusari destroyer armed with battlerazors, inferno cannons, and BS missiles, but it is.

I'm not going around in the Jinsei-Akki shooting people up, am I? The only people i've attacked have been Molys and Outcasts to stupid to stop sending wings after me, even though the last 600 THOUSAND have not yet returned. :rolleyes:

If you really want, i'll take off the Destroyer Primaries for Gunboat turrets. I almost put on Battleship turrets, but the Destroyer Primaries looked better and still gave a good wollop.
