When I start the game via launchpad, I have the new starting screen of 4.87.

But when I exit the game and click another account and restart the game, it is showing me the old 4.86 starting screen. I get kicked then and/or freelancer is crashing.

I tried to delete all old freelancer fragments I found, but I have no idea, what could be the problem.

Is there anything I can do? I would hate to make a fresh win7 install.

Try to go to My Documents/Documents/whatever
in there locate My Games/Freelancer/Accts/SinglePlayer/

And delete everything in that file, and try again. If it doesn't work lemme know so I'll think of anther reason why this might happen.

Kay, gonna give you some files and the locations you should put them at. Tell me what's the result.

EDIT: Btw, you can select anther account without exiting the game, just exit the server, alt-tab, select a new account and go back into the server. Not much of a fix but would do temporary while I search for the reason of the problem.

Also, is your launchpad set to the path:
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Discovery Freelancer 4.87.0\
?

If not, what is the path?

no idea but try to uninstall launchpad and reinstall it .

You could delete or rename the C:\Documents and Settings\***\Local Settings\Application Data\Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0 folder.

Did that, and many other things too. I will re-install win7 within the next few weeks.

I did, and you know what? Still the same:

I start FL
Launch any char and dock
Change account
Try to reach a char there ---> game crashes.
Restarting the game: Old 4.86 background screen and sound..

Please remember, I did a fresh win7 installation this evening.

Very wired.

Where is that image living on your machine (usually \DATA\INTERFACE\INTRO\IMAGES)

you must be still linking to 86 folder

if youve re installed win 7

did you then install 86 and then 87?

or install fl and then 87

if your seeing the 86 screens then you must be still launching from the 86 fl exe!

it happens to me as well, but mine dont crash, but i do prefer the 86 version
