That really sucks, but to be fair Tom Clancy really hasn't written a whole lot in the last few years. Mostly he just sold his name to a publisher so they sell.
Well, that is really sad. He had made really good novels...
Heck, this is the second writer that has passed during reading his books (the first one being Brian Jacques, the Redwall series). I loved him for "Hunt..." and mostly for the book about III World War, the "Red Storm Rising" - both have been read in English (as well as the Redwall series that I collect).
As the sidenote (someone have mentioned that TC haven't wrote anything), I believe he wrote once the he stopped writing novels, because the nightmarish things that he wrote in the books slowly became the reality. For example, the movie version "Sum of All Fears" had to be changed because of 9/11 - in the book we had the terrorists of the Arabic origin that ignites the situation between Russia (in the older editions, USSR) and USA. In the movie those are Ultranationalists from Germany.
