I am playing discovery for long time. I remember 2-3 years ago i couldn't log in for hour for server full ( it was 200 then). Something happened and tragically people lost there enthusiasm to play on disco. Now whenever i log in i see less than 30 people and they are too all near NY. Also I remember whenever a new version released server gets filled up for some days but it didn't happened this time. Not more than a year ago there are always 4-5 people present in Gamma but now none... same as alpha.
Now my request to devs and admins to do something interesting that can increase server population as more people means more fun.

Suggestions Anyone?

I agree with you, It's going downhill at the moment, and sure because of that, you can read about the Disco advertisement campaign post on the top of the main page Wink Also dont forget we are playing the mod in beta testing, so be patient Smile

There's reasons why it's going downhill, some of which are mentioned above.

Patience. Time will tell.

Because Gallia. OP ships, and a backwater - hard to get in and out of (through gaian or oc territory).

@ OP: Beta, imminent rollback.

Gallic ships, save for the Cougar, really aren't that overpowered. Valors are prone to kiting, like every heavy battleship, the cruiser is a pile of dung, the gunboat is horrid, the Cougar is, well, small and lethal; and finally the Lynx is.. Average. Alright agility, (s)low max steering rate, big core and alright hull. A fairly small front profile, but a large top & bottom profile. Fairly balanced overall.

Not to mention that the Lynx is competing with the Templar. No contest there.

If the server is dying over this, then why didn't it die over the incredibly "off" balance between the .86 Wraith and Guardian in the main war going on then: the Rheinland - Liberty one?

Few things going on right now, school is back in session, GTA5 just came out, couple of other things. Freelancer is getting pretty old, people talk about it like "remember that game"

the garlic ships have been much better balanced since 2-3 years ago. other factors influencing player count are cloaks and jumpdrives - invisible or jumping traders means no targets for piracy, means no pirates, means no targets for lawfuls. jump drives need complete rebalance - popping across sirius in one bounce has nerfed activity.

Sorry But I don't see how Gallia effects so bad. How can Gallia effect the population reduction in Gamma and Alpha. I believe it happens ( in case of me ) when dear Devs introduces some systems between Alpha and Gamma and the attack paths are so long and there are so many asteroids blocking caps.

In case of Tau better let kusari enter the conflict and with BAF CR Council Kusari and Gallia Tau is a massive war Zone and no formal alliance.

Give people place to ENJOY the resources of Disco

Overall decrease in population happened after introduce of player owned bases i think. Personally I never had a cloak or anything like jump drive but i think it would be good to make them available in NPC bases with enormus price of course.
And Pls Pls Pls No Barges
