Cmon, if they restrict even more stuff from indie noms then whats the use in having indie nom ID's.

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.

Having access to a cloak - finally - is good news. Harkens back to the Nomads of the vanilla campaign.

Having said cloak use no fuel is something that should be discussed. It would be reasonable for the cloak to use an alternate fuel source that Nomads can easily access. Or keep the godcloaks but sacrifice shields.

Man, all cloaks can do is ake you lose shields and make you invisible

No shooting in it, so its practically only usefull for hiding. Dont judge the majority for what the minority does.

Not quite, since it doesn't drain ship's energy like cruise mode and lasts inifinite amount of time, it'll be rather useful for an ambush, like Mk2A cloaks are.

But it will be truly powerful only in K'Hara's hands, since they have access to battleships and cruisers, where cloaks will be used for ambush tactics. (on battleships - same as Mk2A, on cruisers - cause Nomad cruiser cloak is not as useless as Mk2 is.).

Gunboats, for example, are not capable of using Nomad Cloaks even with Au8 - you only have 260 free cargo space on NomGunboat after you install guns, shield and thruster. (if i'm not mistaken, medium cloaks take 250 cargo?). edit: nvm, found it, it may use au8, since cloak takes way less cargo.

Making them drain ship's energy like in cruise mode will make them only usable to lurk around undetected, and will make them rather useless for both offense and escape. It might be a viable option, due to their infinite duration, but gunboats may use a cargo space increase, then.

Relax, I'm not judging anyone. I know how cloaks operate.
I wasn't criticizing Nomad cloak usage, rather their cloaks' distinct advantage (no fuel usage) over everyone else's cloaks.

Also. Noms invented cloaks. Their bodies generate the power for cloaks, and as nom bodies can generate power for infinite amount of time. Explains alot. Also, noms need something to stay alive longer and not be the go-to target for everyone who sees them.

I personally think that stuff that allows players to avoid consequences of their actions infintely ammount of time should be restricted and not public. This server is about interaction and role play (wars/pvp included), not about avoiding everyone.

Let me just repeat what Moveit said in flood:

(10-16-2013, 04:50 PM)Moveit56 Wrote: Probally the main and only factor which would only bring up this question, is that who would abuse it. The official faction has regulations on how one may use the Cloak, whereas Indies do not.

Can we trust the indies to use it without abusing the fact they can remain invisible for as long as they want? Probably not, but holding this technology from those who it still 'makes sense' to have (Indies are Nomads. Nomads have cloaks) would just be a stupid move. Indies are more numerous than the K'hara.

Due to moralities, i'll have to say both sides, as I have not seen the abuse just yet, but of course, that is subject to change. But currently? I don't see anything wrong with both sides having it. Just don't let it become an issue.

I +1 this

Like I have brought up in many threads which relate to this, it has been mentioned by various people (Omicron, Duv, etc.) there 'are' regulations internally within the K'Hara, and I am not treating those who break them kindly. We finally have a tool which actually makes sense for us to have in Roleplay, i'd rather that the fact was not abused and to keep the game relatively enjoyable for all players, not just ourselves.

Indies, are none of the K'Haras concern. The reason the K'Hara name stands out, is that being a member proves that you know how they speak, and a understanding of how they work. Indies are just blue things which exist to shoot other people (Just generalizing, don't take offence, some of you out there try!). The Indies having cloaks is fine right now from what I have seen, as I am usually on the reciving end of endless complaints when something having to do with the Nomads are being taken advantage of, so I trust things are not out of hand 'yet'.

Eventually? Perhaps there will be a few changes to the system, I cannot verify any of this personally of course though.

I believe its an "Lets see how things go.." period. The K'Hara intends to make the best of it. The Indies can only do the same.

Yes they invented cloaks, or rather they possess innate cloaks, that humans have managed to make lesser versions of. But having non-draining cloaks is a little like having non-draining weapons (like the Nomads had in the vanilla campaign). Both are quite logical from the perspective of lore, but problematic from a game balance perspective.
