Freeport 4 in Magellan has fallen.
The Liberty Navy has taken it in a surprise boarding attack.
Many stories are to be told...

The Nova torpedo sped up towards Hangar 2 and with a bright plasma explosion, it tore up the thick hangar doors that the Freeport crews had not managed to close fully after the last evacuation transport had undocked.

It was only seconds before the assault ship LLS-Lakewood would recover from being rammed by the IMG transport Gyrlas and regained its course towards the docking bay that was smoking and on fire. Seconds before it would ram into the hangar bay, metal screaming... seconds before the marines would enter and start their assault...

And this was the beginning of the end of IMG's rule over Freeport 4.

So what the hell happened?

I thought we were neutral to the Liberty Navy, yet they threatened us at FP4 and boarded the station!

I only had time to evacuate only 20 crew personnel, I have no idea what happened to the rest, and there were families on that station!

I think I saw other IMG transports managing to get people off

I heard reports of some resistance but they were quickly over run, well of course they would be, it's not a military base!

We managed to escape to the Leeds jump hole, and evade a GRN patrol, then cruised as fast as we could to Tau 31 and then on to Tau 23, and finally our base ,Java.



WHY have they done this?

I am shocked at the clear arrogance of the Liberty Navy, what are we going to do about it?

Can anything BE done about it?

"This is IMG on Freeport 4, Liberty Navy is bringing us freedom in a siege cruiser!"

This was all that Gyrlas could think of at the moment... he took some refugees from the station and managed to get them to Bretonia and get back before the fighting started, but when he took the second load of people, the station was under attack and Liberty boarding ship was coming in...

There was only one thing he thought of. "I will ram the bastards!" He send through the comms and rammed the boarding vessel, getting it of course. He managed to ram it once more when it was docking in the dock one, so it more of a crashed into the dock.

"I am getting Laura out of there!" That was another thing he needed to do... and despite the fire of the battleship, he got to the Freeport once more and got to the Emergency hangar... He picked up his girlfriend and some more people and got out as Libertonian marines got to the dock.

After that, he just got out of there... he still could not belive it. Liberty took the Freeport... And he got just barely out of there, injured on board... even Laura was injured.

"Admiral, I was a Libertonian once... a marine even. I am not any more. I don't want to be connected with Liberty any more." He said over the system-wide transmission and got behind the Falling Teardrop, joining the convoy that will take them to the Taus and Java Station.

Once he will get there, he will launch his Liberty Marine badge into space. He had served there... but he was not a Libertonian any more.

The Fall of Freeport 4: John Gyrlas, Laura Huntington

The fleet had arrives and everything was in a panic. Laura was on the station, her fighter being patched up at that moment after the escort run. She was picking up her PDA, dialing John's number.

"Laura! Where are you? Are you still on the...*blast noise* "SHIELD FAILED" "Damn it! Are you still on the station?" His transport took a hard turn and dodged the fire of the battleship.

"Yes! What the fu-ck is going on!" she yells, hurrying towards the hangar... "Is it true that Liberty is here? With an assault fleet?" she yells into comms, running towards the hangar that they were using to load and unload.

"Yes! It is! They are going to deploy Marines into the first hangar, I will ramm the fu-cking boarding cruiser!" Some klaxons are heard from the PDA. "No, you cannot do that with us on board!" Some guy screamed. "Yes, I can and I will do it! I will not surrender our station to the so easily!"

"Are you crazy?!" she yells and then she hears the shields clashing and her eyes spin to one of the cameras that show the space around the base. A boarding ship is starting to spin off course... "Noooo! John? Are you okay?!" she turns abruptly, moving to Hangar 4: "Can you get me?!"

"Sh-it, this was some impact! Yes, I can get you! This is IMG|Gyrlas, I am getting Laura out of there, Laura, get to the emergency dock!" She can hear hull damage klaxons sounding and shields down klaxon aswell, she can also hear some crying and screaming in the background of people that Gyrlas has got onboard.

"I have... about 10 people with me!" she yells... "Some engineering crews! We are making our way there!" she yells into the comms, then the station is shaken and everybody is thrown against the left wall when the Navy boarding ship crashes into the Hangar violently, steels twists as if it was plastic... the comms break and after a few minutes, he can hear Laura caughing: "... they bombed the port! Get up! Get Up! Move... move..." someone drags Laura up and she yells out, too. It's chaos. "To the emergency dock! Now!" she is panting

"I am almost there honey! Get there fast, I am taking some fire from them! They do not like me getting you out!" Some blast sounds can be heard from the cockpit, the sounds of laser and plasma fire hitting the adamantium plates of his battle transport. "I am firing back at that Liberty fracker!" She can hear the sounds of the plasma guns firing, the transport is sending some fire back aswell. "I am almost there!" He takes a hard turn and almost crashes into the emergency dock, not really landing, just getting the ship in there. Gyrlas opens the ramp and gets out with an automatic pistol he has as his side-arm when flying at all times in case of boarding. He took crouch possition and is covering the doors. "Run for it!"

When the airlock opens, and John jumps out, he can see Laura and about a dozen people coming his way. They do not look good, many of them are limping, some are being dragged more than walking on their own... "... On the ship!" Laura is yelling, breathing quickly, holding her chest where she hit a fire extinguisher when she lost balance. "... On... the ship!" she yells again, having trouble catching her breath. She doesn't help the others, but drags herself on board, towards the cockpit... "... John! We have to... move..." she says, groaning. There was gunfire everywhere... "We are a fuck-ing sitting duck!!!"

He is waiting untill he has got all the people on board, but when he sees a marine running into the doors, he opens up with his pistol and gets him to duck back into cover. "The Guild will come back for you! Just surrender to them! I cannot wait anymore!" He helps one more man to get inside the transport, shoots another clip on full auto into the doors and shuts the ramp. After that, he runs into the cockpit, getting into the pilot's seat. "Do we have a medic on board?! Anyone?!" He gets the engine on full, so he is nearly melting the wall behind the transport when he is going out of the dock. Once he is out, he kicks the thruster in and gets in a hard turn to get to the Falling.Teardrop that is calling the transports to her.

Laura has taken the co-pilot's seat and she was managing the shielding as well as she could. Shield batteries were overheating from the fast use and the shields were crackling with the energy of the incoming fire: "... They'll live! Move! I see Julia's Shisha! There... hard left... flank speed... 50 degree starboard!" she shouts, pointing into the direction. The ship is shaken by big hits, and screaming is heard from the rear parts of the cabin section... "Sealing the cargo bays!" she yells, moaning when she slumps into the seat a moment later... "... fu-ck it... it... hurts..." she groans, holding her side.

"Laura! You are hurt! Is there any fraking medic on this ship or did I just take mechanics and coward?!" he screams back to the cabin, but then turning right back, switching off the engine and gliding sideways, then kicking in the thruster on full and going to Julia's ship. The turrets are pumping some fire back at the Liberty Dreadnought, but his shields are too strong and nothing will get through. "Where is the hell is the medic?!"

"I.... am okay. Likely... a cracked rib or something. Just... let me sit here." she groans, still keeping an eye on the consoles as the transport was pulling away. All frequencies had the message of Surrender and she also picks up the comms, while John is steering the ship and speeding up... "... IMG Gyrlas surrenders... do not fire... we have wounded on board... do not fire. We surrender." and slowly, it seemed like an eternity to Laura and all others, the Freeport became smaller and smaller.

He activates his own comms and says "Yeah... I fraking surrender you fraks..." he deactivates it again and slowly goes to Julia's ship. "If any of the damn Libertonians get close to this transport, I will pump all the damn turret fire I can into them..." He has got rage in his eyes, not believing what he had just been part of. Liberty took their station... a Freeport...

Over the comms, a lot of chatter can be heard. The transports and crews were trying to figure out still what happened and who was where and who was left back. "... Damn it! This... this..." Laura groans again when her side hurts... "Let's gut out, John... you hear the HQ... not our fight any more. We..." another groan when she moves... "... we did, what we could."

"You there, yes, you! I do not care who you are, get that medical kit from under there!" Gyrlas left his ship on auto-steere now that they were out of the fight and just closing in on Julia. He got the medicae kit from the man. Well... he more of a teared it from his hands. "Hey... I will at least give you some painkillers untill we can get somewhere where they will have a proper look at you." He got two morphine syringes and got to Laura. "Get it to other who need it!" He said to the man and the man picked it up and had gone to the other refugees. "Here... let me ." He inserted the morphine syringe into Laura, hoping that it would at least dull her pain. He left the other one at the controll pannel so he could use it when she is in pain again. Then he got back to the pilot's seat.

It is that moment after the short pain when the needle enters the artery and seconds later the neuro-toxin disables the pain receptors and Laura exhales and nods, closing her eyes: "... wow..." and she laughs for a moment, whincing when her chest moves by the breathing... "... I... don't think... protocols... alow me to be... your co-pilot now..." but the pain dulls down. Slight movements do not make her groan any more... "... get us home. Some... need a medic treatment..."

"And you need it aswell..." He got his comms, openning it on system wide transmission. "Admiral, I was a Libertonian once... a marine even. I am not any more. I don't want to be connected with Liberty any more." he said and switched the comms off. "Julia... I am getting on your tail. Lets just get out of here." he said on the IMG comms only and looked over at Laura, really glad that she got out of there alive. "I will get us all home Laura..."

Julia's return call cannot be understood because she is clearly sobbing, her voice sounds as if she was strangled, but it's only her emotions that have overcome her. When he turns back to Laura, her head has sunk to the side and she is half-conscious, the drugs have clearly done their job well. "... I know... just... stay cool..." she repeats what she always told her pilots when they were close to freaking out... "... we'll get through... this shit..." before she loses consciousness to the drugs that she had injected.

He got back to steering the ship. It is maybe better that Laura is unconscious now... They made slow progress to the jump hole leeding to Leeds. Once they got there, he could see that Gallic ships were fighting a Bretonia cruiser in there... "Oh god, can't you go fight somewhere else?! We just got from one fight and into another!" Someone told him to shut up, maybe it was a Bret, maybe it was someone from the IMG... he did not really care. "Go fight over Leeds or something! You fraking..."

A bright blue flash, a pressure wave, a slight rocking of the transport. That was the sign that the Nova Torpedo has impacted Freeport Four. The Hangar doors were blasted open violently and the Lakewood took course for the docking bay. Orders were relayed over the Vessels intercom system by Ensign Walker who was at the helm of the Troop transport to the remaining Marines inside the ship, some had already been dropped on the Freeport by the Twin Peaks, but now it was time for the main force to strike.

Collision alarms began blaring throughout the Vessel, and a Guild Transport was seen heading straight for it.

"What in god's name is h-"

A violent shake, the sound of two shields and metal smashing into each other. The Guild Battle Transport had seriously just rammed the Libertonian Marine Transport on its way to the docking bay in a futile attempt to stop the boarding operation, but Walker reacted quickly, not letting this throw him off his game, but they would be coming in hot. Low and Fast they smashed through the Hangar Doors, metal bent in every direction as the Lakewood roughly set down on the Hangar Floor.

A loud hiss as the doors opened, and the remaining thousand marines rushed into the Hangar. The Guild had tried to seal the doors to inside the station, and the Marine Lead on the ground had tried to contact the Admiral for permission to breach, but radio contact had been terrible , so he made the decision on his own. "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" he yelled, and then a loud explosion as the thick metal of the door flew out and created an opening, the marines flooding the corridors behind. The resisting Security Personnel were quickly detained with out much harm, even if some took longer than others to surrender.

From here on out it would only be a matter of time until the station was secured.

Nikola Tesla wasn´t expect huge problems when he was ask to take part in a escort for some ALG and IMG Transports at Freeport 4. Maybe some pirates, nothing the convoy could take care of.

So he lunched his Eagle very heavy fighter and make his way from Java up to the Magellan System to Freeport 4.

As he arrives some traders came along and he awaits the arrive of the transporter convoy. Then he realized that something shown on the scanner which he didn´t expected.

Some Libertonian Navy Ships appears on the scanner and he received following message:


“Attention denizens of Freeport 4. This is Admiral Alan Polstari, Liberty Navy. Per official policy of the Republic of Liberty your station now falls under Liberty Navy protection. All non-essential personnel are to evacuate immediately.”

He thought that this is a joke, that can´t be its a neutral Freeport, but short after that message a LN Battlecruiser came out of the lane and took blocking position in front of Freeport 4. Along with it some light cruisers, boarding ships and several snub fighters.

Freeport 4 replied: “This is Freeport 4 Administrator speaking. What are... what the...”

Panic and disorientation came up and everyone was confused about the situation which came out of nowhere.

The following communication log proof that:

“Navy, this is IMG John Gylras... can you repeat that?” John put out in a trembling voice.

“All armed forces are to lay down their weapons.” LNS-Anchorage replied. “Freeport 4, prepare for boarding action.”

The only rejoinders he got was: “What? Boarding? What?”

Freport 4: “This is Freeport 4, hailing the Liberty Navy. We are a neutral entity.”

“Power down all defences and lay aside all arms and no harm will befall you.” the LNS-Anchorage announced.

Gyrlas shouted: “Freeport, Freeport, what are the orders?”

“This is Freeport 4 to Liberty Navy: We are a neutral entity. We claimed so and informed Liberty about it” the command centre replied. “This is Freeport 4 to commander of the Liberty forces: Do you really order us to abandon the base?”

LNS-Anchorage: “All non-essential personnel are to evacuate Freeport 4.”

[LN]William Jensen: “IMG personal, you are to leave the area immediately in preperation of boarding.”

Freeport 4: “This is an attack against a neutral facility. You cannot do that!”

LNS-Anchorage: “All security personnel are to stand down at once.”

That should solve as a short impression of the situation. Luckily the transporter convoy arrived at this moment and the IMG and ALG freighters where able to get some civilians out of the mess when everything was going mad.

A Nova-Torpedo was fired onto the Freeport and the defending ships starting to fire at the ships of the Liberty Navy. One fighter was killed by the station just one second after it fired the torpedo another was going down in the dog fight between the IMG defending Ships and Liberty Navy which was going on in front of the Freeport.

After some minutes of fight, the IMG surrender and lay down their arms and retreated out of the system.

Danny McHammer, captain and first pilot of the IMG heavy transport Shishapangma which the Stone Bros Ltd/GmbH transport company freshly bought just few weeks ago, made another gesture to bartender of Java station bar to get his third whiskey. He couldn´t stop thinking about what happened in last hours. He couldn´t understand it. What the hell just happened in Magellan? Where is this universe going to?

He still heard in his head voice of Admiral Polstari saying that ridiculous words. Everyone around Magellan can´t believe he is serious in first moments.



And just after few minutes, one Liberty Navy ship after another started to appear on the scanner and entered the space around Freeport. Danny was just shouting to technicians to finish that minor repair when he looked from the window and saw...IT. Giant Liberty Assault Carrier! [LN]-LNS-Anchorage was written on the hull. He saw them before but now his ship was probably one of the possible targets. And moreover, just next to him also siege Cruiser [LN]-LNS-O´ahu.



What the hell they brought there and what they want to do, were thoughts in Danny´s head. Then, the chaos started. IMG personel, when understood that admiral is serious and wants their station, started quickly with evacuation but also preparation of defence. Navy was preparing boarding, ordering everybody to get out.

Finally, the engines were back online. Danny couldn´t just sit there and watch. He turned on impulse engines and moved closer to station, despite the look to the cruiser and carrier was really terrifying. Then he heard station commander yelling "Delay them!" and saw battletransport moving in.

Dany was not brave enough to start shooting, so he chose the only "pacifist" option he had.
"Prepare for the collision!" he shouted in ship comm and moved fully impulse speed towards the battletransport.




Second before collision, he almost saw into the bridge of the other ship.




Then, sound of crash which was so loud filled the ship but his Shishapangma seemed to be just little scratched as shield took almost all energy of the impact. Navy battletransport was rammed off its course for moment, but Danny didn´t have time to continue as he saw that carrier opened fire at his ship!
"God...please no..." he thought but seconds later it turned out fortunately that those were probably only warning ones, because they went close but didn´t hit.




Then carrier moved towards station but one of IMG ships rammed it too.
"This is crazy! What the hell is going on here...what the hell is going on here?! Why the hell is navy attacking neutral IMG base?!!!" Danny repeated when he saw the bravery of one of guild´s pilot.



Obviously madness was everywhere around. But IMG side was loosing and boarding party started. Shooting, shouting over comms... And navy expelling IMG ships from space around Freeport. Danny felt so desperate. He wished to sit in carrier too, not in ordinary heavy transport.

"You have blood on your hands, Polstari!" he shouted desperately to system channel. But it seemed that navy somehow forgot him there as their attention was focused on IMG primary fleet. So he used this opportunity and called freeport and offered evacuation for station personnel.

"Take those you can get and get out of there!" he heard order from one of IMG ships named Falling.Teardrop which was already leaving. How symbolic name for the situation which was just now happening there.



Ship quickly connected to dock two and people who were wounded but still could move quickly ran to the empty cargo hold. Almost seventy of them.




Then Danny tried to slowly leave the area. But out from nothing, admiral ordered him to return people to Freeport to detain. But he didn´t want. They disrupted ship´s cruise engine but he just let on the impulse engine, stubbornly leaving the place. What stopped him was cruiser shooting at the ship two times and admiral which started to talk about engaging.




He looked from the side window and looked at cruiser at ship´s side which was obviously ready and in position to fire more.



Danny was angry but there wasn´t other choice, so he slowly turned the ship back, returned to Freeport and docked again. Marines quickly moved into ship and took the wounded people back to station. Danny felt so poor that he couldn´t save them. But he had to continue and move out. Before navy will keep him and his crew there too. He joined guild pilot Nicola Tesla which was still waiting there to help as last primary fleet ship. Then they started cruise together towards Taus.

"Danny, we found one man hiding in machine room. He´s from Freeport!" he suddenly heard in comm his technician Kevin.
"Help him and keep him alive," he quickly answered and checked the scanner. Obviously navy ships didn´t detect the fugitive aboard and let them leave.



Danny realized this man can be really important now as he was witness of boarding and what navy did inside the station. It was obviously important to deliver him to Java. The flight was long but despite they had to find the way through Baffin and Tau-29, they finally and safely reached it. Luck was on their side this time as just when they arrived, some nomad flew around not so far from station. Then Danny moored his ship and Nikola docked.



Inside station, Danny and his crew helped the young man from Freeport to reach infirmary.




The memories were still so intensive. Danny looked in his fifth empty glass of whiskey. He needed sleep.

"But who can when something like this can happen? After all, people from Freeport 4 went to sleep this way yesterday too..." came to his mind when he was leaving bar.

Disembarking from Sabah, the 17th Rapier operative known only as "Sicarius" knew things were going to get messy, and was going to provide quite the challenge for the 2 other operatives under her command for this mission.

"Alright Rapiers, you have your mission briefing from White. This is a level 5 category op. As such, I expect all of you to refrain from deviating from the mission parameters in any regard. Top priority is the neutralization of station defenses, and removal of the station security chief. We will assume cover of escort pilots. You all know the details, now lets get to it."

As the team passed through the Cortez system, and entered into Magellan, comm chatter began pouring in through the channels. Each member was assigned to monitor frequencies prior to their arrival, to patch together intel on the increasing ships surrounding Freeport 4.

Instead of docking within the stations primary hanger bays, the team positioned themselves to dock in the service bay, thus hopefully avoiding the increasing traffic that would be soon pouring in and out of the primary bays. Once docked, Sicarius ordered the team to split up, 2 heading towards the security stations and station command center. Sicarius herself immediately changed into an old IMG uniform, to better blend in and find her target.

After a few minutes had passed, with the team relaying information back and forth, the bulk of the Liberty forces arrived in system. "Alright team, Liberty forces have arrived. Report status of weapon status and shielding!" Her comm came alive with reports from both teammates, the first indicating that the weapons had been shut down, and the second that the shield generator was to be shortly sabotaged. "Well done. Once both systems have been neutralized, proceed to RV and await my arrival."

Sicarius breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that 2 of the 3 objectives were about to be completed. It allowed her to focus solely on her target, Mr. Hank Borrell...
