Taking credit for other peoples hard work is a big :nono:

Too bad there are people like that around in the real world.

Somebody aired an idea that we should invade their server. A very bad idea. They could come over to Disco and wreak havoc also.

I think this is best left at Igiss and people who have participated in making the mod. The only thing left to ordinary Disco-goers is to spread the word about Alliance being a very cheap rip-off.

Flying under radar.

Mods cannot be copyrighted, most surely not for Freelancer (don't know about other games). Reynen once tried to copyright TNG, but he did it only for a model package I think and some other additions, not for the mod as a whole.

Quote:Did you guys get any kind of patent/copyright etc. for Discovery?
Patent is a right for an invention, not a copyright. There's nothing in common between patents and modification design. As for copyright, I already answered.

Models (3d mesh and texture) don't need any copyright as far as I know. They are property of the owner from the moment they are created.

I doubt anything can be done with this on the legal side - no real documents in a clerk's drawer about disco.

Guess the best lil' thing to do in order to stop such things from happening is making a division between server and client Disco DL files. Client one - you can't do nuffin' but play, files read-only. Server - moddable, files editable and DL allowed after giving a password.

And a bit less seriously - let's team up on one day and FLOOD their server, clog it for a while, totally oorp pwnzor everything that moves there and such.

Perhaps we should place satellites all over Disco that have a unique name and a "Welcome to DISCOVERY!" mod in them. Because if those morons can't change the infocards, that would prevent them from doing it further.

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

If they Biatchez could wipe out the "Welcome to Discovery" Commodity, then making a few sats go poof ain't gonna be a problem either. Same for infocards.

Like I said - restricting access to the moddable copies of the mod might work in the future, cuz atm all we can do to those bustaz is making their server work miserable. We might also perform alittle smear campaign on some serious FL forums.

This is just upsetting an disgusting. As a photographer I understand what it means to have one's work stolen and I know it is very painful. Igliss have you considered contacting the host of their server and filing a complaint? If they are a legit company they might just look at canceling the minute you use big words like artists rights and infringement, etc.

I apologise to igiss and all other russians playing disco.

We're gonna have to EMP your country back to the stone age to defend igiss's great creation, the discovery mod.

Due to some 'unable to find a name that doesn't insult it's original owner' (even earthworms have pride guys) people in russia. We have no option but to EMP your country to kill the server running this ****ifed version of discovery.

Again, sorry.

*hand hovers over big red 'do not touch' button*

Unless of course someone has a better idea or a specific location to aim for?

Ok looking at it from a diplomatic point of view.

Discovery is an English speaking server. A lot of Russian speaking player have problems playing and RPing here. I'd say if they acknowledge the Work Igliss has done, I think it is not so bad. Besiade that, may be I can play this game on Saturdays now.

Things to do.
1. Next version, add hidden elements for discovery. in unobscure places.
Little icons.....hideen in clouds 20 below the system stating welcome to discovery.

I concur with Marauder.

This is silly, and its because of people like this that measures such as taking away the server part of the freeware, making this a clientside only DL are suggested.

No wonder everything that can be downloaded is only clientside.

These are the type of people that really need to find something better to do, than break the law.

This is Terrible! I only found this thread now and I am completely disgusted! There has to be SOME way of taking action, isn't there? Down with the Alliance!
