Brilliant, make every fool loldodge to the nearest base (which is almost always reachable unless you have the aciest of aces on your rear) whenever they take a little damage, because no-one can prove you "died" by docking in combat.

the solution is to remove quick docking. this will give the chaser plenty of time to get a screenie and play sanctionlancer.

i think that the docking message range should be limited to 3k - the maximum range of pew. Beyond this range the quarry has eluded the hunt and has gotten to their burrow safely.

what if we had a minimum amount of time in a base? say 90 seconds? this would mean it would e very difficult for someone to quickdock, repair and buy bb's, and then undock without the chasing ship knowing what has happened

Either make the docking msg available to see for everyone who are in the same system,or just return the old rule,so those who runs away from the battle more than 14-15 km is considered as a death in PvP.

One way to solve this is to force ships to use a specific, irremovable scanner based on its class, with the range generally increasing per class. This would mean scanners no longer being purchasable; whatever your ships comes with, it is stuck with. If, for example, a battleship screens a fighter docking from 50k away during battle then the admin can easily check to see that the fighter could not possibly have seen its opponent, thus invalidating the report. In order for a complaint to be actioned upon, the offending ship must either have been within 14k or have equal or greater radar to that which made the report. This can already be achieved, but there is the possibility of the accused player downgrading their scanner after the incident.

Forget spamming the system chat with dock messages, that'll only serve to annoy everybody and possibly also increase the workload on the server.

Yeah, the general idea is very great. Simple and easy to understand. Would be nice, if it would be accepted.

Even after the changes introduced in scanner functionality, the local chat should be left as it was before. The scanners fall into the category of Radars which are a part of navigational systems but voice comms are carried out by Radio transmitters and receivers which is why they shouldn't interfere with each other.
Also a radar should be able to notice when a ship disappears suddenly near a base within it's scanner range. Therefore the docking notifications should vary according to the type of scanner being used.

If you can get away 14 k, you can easily also get away 25 k.
Just select another base to resupply.

Would also add some time, as the distance is longer and the runner could not come back into the fight so quickly, which is actually not bad. It's annoying when someone cruises away and 2 minutes later is back in the fight.

Rather than adjusting the.new scanners to the rule, it would be easier to force the bases themselves to limit traffic notices to 14 clicks range
