Molly Independance

This may sound strange, but to those who are aware of the situations, past and present in bretonia, youll know what I mean.


The Molly vs. Bretonia war has raged for a long time, both sides have had victories, and both sides have suffered defeats.

Both the mollys and the Bretonians share a number of enemies, that both sides agree are far worse then each other. Namely, the Kusari and the Corsairs.

It would begin with a cease fire. Bretonia would then recognise the mollys as an independant state of bretonia.

This would be the entire system of Dublin, londonderry would remain as is, and perhaps a new system would be put in place.

The Mollys would convert to using bretonia ships, and would relinquish alliances with the rogues, outcasts and hessians, though perhaps remain neutral to them.

Dublin and this new system (Belfast would be an ideal name if the station was not already so named) would have trade lanes and jump gates under construction.

A new Pirate faction would have to take the place of the mollys, perhaps one heavily associated with cardamine, (junkies anyone?) to create an outcast ally.

The BMM would not like any of this, but would have to concede defeat in dublin. perhaps they could hire a covert group to raid the mollys or the like, creating more potentail role play.

The UOG would then become a lawful faction, policing/patrolling the molly systems.

NOW this seems very extreme i know... and we may be going too far ahead.

Please dont just give an outright no, or say NAY because it would change the vanilla universe to extremely. I see this as an opportunity to advance some of the stories and things in a way which enhances our discovery experience.

to sum up... Dublin would become an independant neutral ish system (hostile to corsairs and bretonias enemies), would convert to using all bretonian ships, because they are no longer hostile to bretonia. new possible system for the mollys.

Bretonia would give them practical independance, while still controlling the major majority of all imports and exports (therefore still taxing them).

Though i strongly object that you should use Brettonian ships.
Maybe ask the modelers to make you one or two new ones, so you can ditch the rogue ships?
I don't know. But Brettonia military crafts/weapons is just out of your reach.
They are in war with Kusari, so, they would probably save all those things for themselves, instead of giving it to you.

Also, maybe you could RP this without any big changes in Discovery?
Because, if it's done in the mod, all other servers will have Mollies allied with Brets.
See what I mean?

now that you mention it we do have some molly ships in the design phase...

but some major changes would have to be made.... NPCS if nothing else.

and what would be wrong having mollies friendlier to brets on the other servers, if thats how the story plays out?

I doubt very much they will go straight from enemy to ally.

and the independence war will rage even more.

But I can also see Corsairs trying to invade Dublin big time...

who says the mollys have to attack anyone?

there would be ongoing struggles against the corsairs, and perhaps dissent among the more piratical mollys who would join the new bretonia pirate faction.

I'm more then happy for the mollies and brets to have a ceasefire in the next mod release.

Then the mollies can focus on kicking the corsairs outta britonia, while the bret military focuses on the war with kusari.

That way igiss or someone else has time to change the npc reps (so you don't get npcs shooting each other while player factions are neutral).

As for the bret recognising molly independence... sorry, that just doesn't seem possible.

After all, when the gold miners first rebelled and showed the bret government what was going on (that a trusted offical and his cronies were skimming gold shipments) their reply was was to sent in the military.

Only after some of the rebels were killed did the rest realise no-one in the government cared at all for them. That is what I see as the major point of this war, they feel that the bretonian government sees and treats them as expendable drones.

I see getting independence as just a political excuse for vengence.

But, like I've said, thats my view on it. If igiss agrees then go for it.

Well a few small changes and you can accomplish this with ease.

Lets say 90 percent of the mollies become allies to the Bretonians.
But 10 Percent, after getting independence still wanna kick the crap out of Bretonians after independence is achieved.

there are border cross fires and accasional Bretonian citizen who traverses through Dublin is attacked by these militia mollies.

Bretonian Government, though they have recognized Mollies, has stated caution against travelling to the fragile state, where tourist kidnapping and killing is still common.

OOC: UOG will have to get a Freelancer or a Merc ID and then work as neutral will the Bretonian police.


Suggesion: New system needed Between Dublin and Omega 5 bypassing Bretonian inner systems all together. New Items added to outer rims so we can show economies getting better. Going with your idea will require a lot of scripting and data change. Remmember mate the best way to bring change to a mod is to do it slowly.

I like this too.

In fact, I think I PMed Igiss with a similar idea a few months back. I can imagine that BMM or the like would be given Belfast in exchange for extracting themselves from Dublin.
