For seriousness. I dunno.. I'll hold my tongue on this subject for now.

- Being out of their ZoI (the GRN ID was limited to the Taus and Gallic systems at the time - They were raiding alpha).

- Having a name/tag which was all about player nationality (CCCP = USSR).

- Allying with a faction they never should have met at all. (At the time the Corsair ID couldn't go to the Taus, GRN couldn't go further into sirius than the Taus, they should not have come into any contact.)

Oh yeah, and the slew of no-rp engagement sanctions, re-engaging sanctions, F1 sanctions... But I guess all that stuff is easy to forget, considering they only bothered making a poop-storm about and objecting to the alliance bit.

If you remember, an ENTIRE FACTION had their ships outright deleted before that, for having a nationality-based tag. The penalty the CCCP got was pretty lenient for that bit of disco's history, really

This.

I liked them because they brought activity to a place where there was none. Of course the mostly lacking RP and the pvp rulebreaking was a bit meh, but at least they would never complain about getting ganked...

But heh. Still I prefered them over the annoying pvpextremist who only plays for winning or the silent person who insults you after you killed him and such. Overall the server could use more people who just try to have fun without screwing other people over. But it was eventual that they'd leave after the stuff that they went through.

I love how in this thread, people are trying to leap to the defense of one of the worst groups ever to have graced the server with their presense. I'm aware that members of the old CCCP still wander around here.

But in all seriousness, you had a group whose main roles included;

- Pissing everyone off.
- Roleplaying badly.
- Not roleplaying at all before shooting people.
- Re-engaging.
- Making poor excuses for their USSR tag, despite every member of the faction being from countries within the former soviet union, and all russian speaking, the vast majority having russian nationality.
- Being generally disruptive.

Caleb, they were not scary... Stupidity is only frightning when it has power.

They did complain about getting "ganked" despite being well renowned for doing so themselves, and being generally mindblowingly lacking in sportsmanship in their own behaviour.

They were the pvp extremists who played only for winning, they were the silent person who insults you...
What the hell is wrong with disco's collective memory?

Probably the same collective memory that blames "elitists" for Disco's slow decline in playerbase.

Probably just emblematic of the same playerbase slowly becoming more lolwut, I guess. If not that, then the proportion/percentage of players trending more towards that direction.

Do you remember that corsair group that only let native spanish speakers in? Exactly the same... See, when you start founding groups along pre-existing cultural/geographic/linguistic/religious divisions like that, you nearly always end up with this sort of isolationist "us against the rest of the server" attitude springing up within it.

The same happens with most imported clans - Take the earlier days of the XTF as an example...

The only groups which actually work here, are groups which don't have any predominant nationality/cultural identity - external to their roleplay, and are formed by people already within the community. The most successful groups tend to be extremely international, and do not try to crowbar things into the disco community from outside... But rather grow up within it.
