@ Spazzy

"I will sit in indestructible gunboat and TS/TZ all the time, laughing at those pvpwhores who can't even properly speak English."

EDIT: I must say I partially understand their reasoning, as some people simply aren't capable of pvp, but still it's bit meh..

You do not Role Play pirates....you play pirate characters for the cheap income, lolz, and blue messages...

Enough said with that Bro.

One encounter with you is just like any other encounter with you in-game. Does not matter
what type unlawful you are playing, the result of running into you is always the same. It is all about your own personal (out of game) SATISFACTION, and not about developing an in-game storyline around your character and trying to advance that character.

That playing in this fashion is fun for you, I have no doubt. That running into you has driven people off of the server and onto other games, I am also sure off.

That it is a conspiracy against you, is a stretch....more likely it is a result of the way YOU play the game.

Cheers and respects, Spazzy.

Could you all stop dissecting my post for the acknowledgement of some kind of opinions you have on me.

Quote:You do not Role Play pirates
Quote:I rarely pirate for the RP, because that (piracy) is not where I get that (RP) satisfaction from.

I roleplay each damn character I have. I am just saying that I feel more comfortable RPing on my other characters than something I camp a gate with.

Meh, i think this is an attitude problem very widespread here:

We are a small community so we should look after each other - meaning that if you start from a power position (pirate) and interact with the "victim" (trader) - it is kind of YOUR responsibility to take care that the encounter for said trader is fun even as he has to give cash away/fight to the death/whatever - of course this is not a perfect world and not always doable but if you pirate with that idea in the back of your head, after a while the traders will remember your name and will no longer silentrun/engage (at least most of them).
If you behave responsible keeping in mind that you might spoil others fun you will solve a lot of problems while having more fun and getting a healthier community.....but if you get your fun by spoiling others fun well, the problem is something completly else.....where did that line with "be excellent to each other " in the server rules go anyways....O.o

I really don't think it is the pirate's fault the majority of the time.

Some people just have a terribly hard time when losing in computer games, and they need to grow up.

They are the same type that will love to gun down an unlawful transport, but do anything they can to smash any kind of fun when they are pitted against another combat ship.

In my view it is the silent trader / fighter pretending to be AFK that breaches 0.0 and we really shouldn't make any excuses for them. At all.

Of course the principle is true for both sides - but for the side with more power...you know, great power gives great responsibility and stuff Wink

For 9/10 interactions, that's definitely what it is. Most pirates barely speak english, and if you try to talk about anything, they just start shooting since you aren't giving them money fast enough.

So there's a reason for your predicament.

That's true but as a pirate even a meaningful conversation can be a good encounter. As a merc as well.

I don't go into every encounter expecting to kill someone or rob them blind. It's my starting point, granted, but I am open to having the encounter turned in another direction - and when I am on the other side it is my experience that most players are open as well, you can haggle your way out of a tricky situation, propose to do counter-favors or even have a nice conversation with a Reaver before they murder you.

Sometimes there is no other way than paying the pirate or dying, but at least I try to roleplay to get something out of the situation, I think that should be expected of every single player here. That's not too much to ask on an alleged roleplay server.

By the silent / forced non-encounter attitude, all of that is not a possibility. In-game roleplay requires at least two participants, and when one side refuse to roleplay, no matter how justified they think their non-actions are, it spoils the core idea of Discovery.

Mimir, of course pirates are out for the cash ( if they should be out for the kill is very debatable though) and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it....a nice and fun encounter doesn`t mean the trader runs free but that he "paid" in exchange for gettign fun.
On the forced non-encounter/mute stuff - well, who could blame em to be honest - if i see people coming to my system and i know these guys give a damn about me and my fun but just look out for their own satisfaction- i am out of there, too. My time is scarce and way way WAY too valuable to waste it on non-fun things in order to entertain others. It is a supposed rp game with a small community, we should look out after each other....roleplaying works best with trust and respect for each other....
