So, me and Achille have been looking around Gallia for a bit and we've seen some stuff related to the First Gallic war. We've read about 6/7 info cards and they seem to tell a story of another side that Gallia was scared of. There's very little about it on the wiki and the forum. Does anyone know much about it?

From what I know they are called the Normandy Separatists, not much information is available on them from what I know of. They seem to be at least capable of opposing the crown, and have their own series of systems out beyond Maine that they have claimed for themselves and forcefully isolated. They cooperate a little bit with the Council but like to keep to themselves... but more than that, I do not know. I think back when Gallic Artifacts were a thing, they were tied to the Normandy faction, perhaps they gained an advantage over the Crown through use of artifacts? Not sure, speculation really.

All I have managed to gather was info about Normandy separatists that defeated GRN, securing their independence and leaving Royals to barricade their side of the fence just in case. There is sealed gate (yet another one...) that according to some infocard leads somewhere into Normandy space, permits only freighters to pass through.

Of course if it was not deleted with 4.87 shifting around through.

I've read about the Normandy Separatists from the info cards. Is there no write up on what happened during the first war? Or have people genially decided to forget about it?

Try going here: http://www.cshake.net/flwiki/infocard_search.php and searching for Normandy, that should give you every piece of text in the game related to the group.

The Separatists, from my understanding while digging through lore, generally stayed away from the wars that Gallia started. While Gallia wanted revenge for being left behind, the Separatists didn't care much and just wanted to live in peace.

The faction was planned to be released later on, but Igiss had poor planning and didn't see that adding yet another faction to Gallia plus systems far away from everything would be a terrible idea.

As of right now, there is still the gate in Maine with the BS guarding for any incoming attack from them, though it's unlikely.

Wait what?

Frog "lore" is screwed even more? Like Junker-stolen gate tech wasn't enough...

Thank'yall, all these replies have been gold for what we're trying to compile, especially the detailing about the limited InRp freighter access on the gate (Omicron ^^), we'd nearly overlooked that one.

Does anyone have any idea why the Normans initially attempted to go independent in the first place? What alienated them from the crown/kingdom, a mere desire for autonomy or an ideological separation?

Oddly, from what we've garnered on the Normans they seem almost entirely detached from any idea of a council precursor, exclusive of their mutual disdain of the Sirian conflict. Indeed, they appear to be less anti-monarchistic but more anti-Gallic state in totality - somewhat vikingesque in their operational methods, and cultural history.

One key quirk is the slight overlap with Kusarian/Rheinlandic cooperate favouritism - It appears that the Norman separatists have/had an extensive mutual understanding with Solar, to the point of being at the receiving end of direct financial sponsorship. EFL apparently departed Normandy at the open outbreak of hostilities, whilst the Normans (probably due to the influence they exert over planet Mayenne), detest GMS.
