I dislike silent traders both as a trader and as a pirate - in fact a fair portion of my demands to the silent traders are for them to talk to me - I don't ask for credits I merely want them to start talking and only if I get no response do I blow up the ship - with a good enough rp conversation I even let them go without taking their credits.

I dislike pirates RP being "pay 15m or die". Asking them to reduce it to a more reasonable demand results in "PAY OR DIE" Great RP from the chaps pirating my Daumann Miner last night. Due to that response and the 15m I would rather run, and as it turned out get blown up.

So people, stop complaining at the other side, and do your part.
Traders, start greeting each and every passing ship. Be fearsome with pirates that you can escape and be humble with those whou you can't.
Pirates. you are here to cause trouble. Do so by beeing mean. But consider that there is a player behind the character. If you keep taking majority of his profits, he is only going to get angry with pirates in general and might become the usual-silent-battleship that hunt your kind. Make demand in order to interact and fulfill your role, not to be jerk and take away more than half of the profit.

One problem I have that causes me a delay is when a pirate talks to me in private chat, it takes me awhile to find them in the chat list (I'm slow lol) to click on there name to respond in private chat.. so if you pirates get me (Talon.Silver or Gypsy)... give me a sec to find you in the list.. If I don't hit cruise immediately (as I decided to run) then I'm going to stay and RP with you, and looking for you in list.

PS.:
3.3 Aggressors are not allowed to destroy a trade vessel prior to issuing a demand, in system or local chat, and allowing sufficient time to respond. "Halt" on its own is not a demand, however, a trade vessel can be destroyed if they refuse to stop after being asked to in the form of a proper demand.

As far as the silent traders go - a demand to know if they are listening is good - if they don't respond then shoot them. There is many a time where I have tried to get a response to have them answer "just blow up my ship already" or not to even respond. On my trader it annoys me when they don't answer my hails. As both a trader and a pirate I have found the best way to do things is to issue a reasonable demand - such as talking then if they respond I might even let them go without any other demand. But no response is the one thing I am most likely to end up destroying the ship for. This is a rp server so rp.
When I fly my trader if I have to go answer the phone and someone shoots and destroys me for being afk I would consider that fair - I chose to answer the phone so my fault - if I'm not going to be about I log off.

If they say that, ask them to keep still, remove shields and fire Novas at their equipment, especially their thruster, or their BS scanner if they have one.

Then leave them with 10% hull...
