Dispite being another "Invite guy to faction" forum, this actually has been a good help in seeing which factions are still active, and seeking out members still. It 'has' been a good help, making me wish I could join more than one.
When I progress far enough, perhaps I can see about a few more, but until then?
Oh, if it was more about who's active and recruiting than who's more into science (inRP of course), I could have offered you our beloved Technology & Advancement Division of The Council. I haven't simply because of a few commenting (seemingly frowning upon) all these sudden R&D divisions of everybody and their mom.
Council, like many others, has it's RP platform for science, it's only not our main profile. In my sig you can find the link to my feedback thread, where you can find a collection of my works, a significant amount of them being around science in The Council.

All of these are factions that base themselves around research.
You could also look at the major ship-builders like DSE, Samura/Kishiro, BMM, DHC, GMS/EFL.
These also have an extensive development search meant for the building of their ships, over their normal operations. And as you know (or now going to) developing new ships and weaponry takes an extensive research.
Yep, could not have it explained better, though I set DHC, Kishiro and Synth foods to a secondary role...
I remember that the Order had its OSD, which merged with Order| into Order|-SD, the Science Division. This part of Order| has ceased to continue when Tenacity and neko_soilder stopped playing. Perhaps someone could revive it.
The SCRA has always maintained a division on Mykolaiv. If you're interested in weapons and military research, it'd probably be the place to go. Reverse Engineering is something we do as well.
