I actually never fought keepers, just seen them.
Sorry, never ment this to become a flame, hehe:)
Ok, new thing.
Say this same scenario happened, but:
Person X sees 2 cap ships and runs BEFORE shots were fired, with the 2 caps in pursuit. Ships then come to back person X up and they all engage.
That's not re-engaging, right? As no shots were fired.
-and what if only shots from the 2 caps would have been fired?
wait, so when does a fight become a fight, when both sides shoot, or only 1?
I was also there and he left the area 3 times, he came back when more arrived, when we dispatched them he ran again, we did not chase so he ran from the fight = Out Of the Fight,
when more of his buddies came he came back, now as this has been recorded on fraps, it will be sent to the Admins for their perusal, they will decide if a rule has been broken not "trial by forums"
' Wrote:Honestly, the whole disengaging rule hurts the RP of the server, badly. Makes no sense, either fight and die, or run and be considered dead?
IMO if anyone wants to be a good RPer,they'd ignore that rule and RP it. Instead of shouting on ooc "hey you disengaged, leave the system for 4 hrs!"
The rule exists due to the game mechanic, otherwise the fights would never end and last forever if all parties could disengage and return at any time. Please, this has been put on for so many times up and explained in thousands by now. I'm sorry, you don't ignore rules, if you do - you violate them, simple as it is. Either everyone follows them or nobody, but not selective, RP or not.

Sorry, you miss my point. If you are the one they retreated from, you have the choice to ignore their violoation or start spewing OORP garbage. Obviously it depends on the situation. IF someone clearly abuses it, then sure, report away. If not, go with the flow, have fun fighting with tactics for once.
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
Rules are very strict here yes, i often find myself in this situation, when engaging NovaPGs in sigmas.... it ends with me retreating a few systems, getting backup and then they retreat,....
When in this kind of situation, wait for the enemy to fire first, then you can defend yourself... (make sure you can survive that first shot though.... as waiting in a bomber for a nomad battleship to fire on you... could be considered a bit crazy)

Little historical notice there. At the beginning we used not to report combat or any other rule violations, just kept going on playing. This had led some people to believe they can violate rules against us as we wouldn't report them. In the end we got fed up having daily re-engagements several times, so I put zero tolerance policy in place. It is still there and I'm not taking it away. Relaxations, while being good willed at first on practice fail as they end up being abused to the extreme.
Once again I would like to remind that rule violation is a rule violation, regardless the way you perceive it personally. It is written there to be followed, not to be chosen today and disregarded tomorrow depending on the mood, situation, roleplay or whatever. I've been very lenient, my good will has been abused. Times change.
Now if I'd be lenient now I would become a buyist. It's all or none there.
And here is my final point: just . do . not . break . rules. If you don't like them - try to appeal to change them first. Until then you'd be violating rule plain and simple, no excuses.

Thanks for the Tip on that one Jure, ill be sure to let all my guys know:)
I fully understand why docking and re-engaging would be a problem. But I did not dock. I stayed in my ship the whole time, while having them on my Scanners. I watched how they chased the Bretonia Battleship to dock at Gammu..
But, if we go strictly by rules, then I was wrong yes. And deserve my punishment. Keep in mind that I did Dis-engaged as soon as they squeeled.
I just think this rule should be tweaked a little. If you dock someplace you are out yes, but a tactical retreat, common, thats logical. And I see some Bad Ass flyboys say you either Charge or flee, well I am sorry, but that is not RP at all. For I would like to see you charge 2 T72 Tanks in you Humvee in real life.
We must decide, either RP or not. And before you all get your panties in a twist, please just think about how this rule can be adjusted and tweaked to favor Realistic RP yet fairness.
I apologize for Re-Engaging. Next time I will just cut my engines and let them blow me out of space. At least someone has fun then.

As far as i understood: once one side drains at least 50% of the shield of the other; or damages the hull.
Which leads me to another question:
Say i have an engagement, and chose to turn tail & run, and jump out of the system. I've disengaged & have followed the rules. If my opponent now jumps into the system after me, am i allowed to shoot first?
I was thinking partly yes, for several reasons, but am not really sure.
