Increase the tick from 16 seconds to a couple of minutes, that way there will be less work to be done, but it will require boosting the repairs done...

I don`t remember a horrible lag in 86 so I think the problem is somewhere else and not in the bases, but take them down sometime and see if anything improves...

Bases should:
  • Be SRP only
  • Not Impossible to destroy, Core 4 bases should only be as strong as, for example, 2 cap8 barges.
  • Not to have OP Weapons platforms that wreck everything. They should only be as strong as gunboat platforms. Maybe cruiser platforms.
  • Not be allowed to do retarded things like block jumpholes, cutting off activity.

It increases forum RP, aye. In-game, not so much. The thing is with the 'extra jobs' as you describe it, it's a very one-sided typ of job, supplying/maintaining bases makes people see things with a 'tunnel-view', i.e.: too much focus on the base (giving the time-frame certain goods need to be supplied etc) and less on their surroundings and thus also actual RP performed.

I remember having to find a miner in any given system, having to wait anywhere between 4 and 15 minutes to be filled up, whilst constantly checking the radar to see if no boogies got close. I spent a hell of a lot more time in one place which makes you a target quicker, nowadays you can dock at a base, grab the ores, fly away and be a target on the move and thus less interesting for pirates.

Pirates don't log anymore, or less, in terms makes police log less. It's a vicious circle this one.

No, I say too many POBs, never been a fan of them, never will be. I'm making use of some of them, cannot deny that, but at least make them SRP or something. This is honestly getting out of hand.

I want everyone to picture a scenario when we have PoBs at every station, planet, ore field, base, jump gate and jump hole.

Please, don't make me miss the old Dublin days. With epicness throughout the day. Too late now, people got used to not going there anymore and its dead now, the whole system. Without the Coin (lovely base for the rest) ever built I think it would still have some life in it.

I personally despite having a base would be happy to have them SRP only. It would stimulate at least some activity. An alternative would be to make them official faction only and prevent any more rogue POB's being built by removing the base construction platform from freely available - Barge is only found on admin base so make the base construction platform like that.

I have two reasons for saying this:

1) Bases take up a serious amount of time supplying them a 5k ship takes about 7 trips to put 2 days worth of supplys on.

2) Official factions basically only get a tag at the moment and making the POBs only part of them would do a lot to get them more active.

#Tyler #Lunatic i concur.

Bases which time and RP meaning is - supply runs/idling - are redundant. Base supply i dont count as RP at all to be frank. IT can generate some RP when pirate stop you and tax you , but it is lucky coincidence to be taxed, although majority of players might consider that an unlucky nuisance...

It's just stupid that while you can assemble the group of people to kill the base, due to big pew pews server will crash.

In some cases PoBs kill RP. Expecially ones immovable, undestroyable. For example IMG| Falster base being one of them, which took away good piracy spot from pirates. Now you can be like all happy since you managed to 'win' against pirates, but on grand scale everyone loses here, because system becomes less active and less people can get involved, less people participate, less people roleplay.

My idea is to make destruction of PoBs event like feature. On daily basis, they would be invurnable, but some bases at some time would become killable and in a lot easier way than currently. Maybe 1/3 of HP or less of what we have now.

By giving it event status all factions who are intrested in a PoB will have time to react and show up. More people have time to participate. More chances for us to crash the server ^.^
