This is, unfortunately, true.
The majority of jumphole blocking bases or bases built to otherwise annoy 'enemy' factions is owned by official factions. Goldern Coin, which is no longer a jumphole blocker, is owned by the [M]ollys. Bowex) owns King's Cross (although I personally don't mind that one as much - a snub can survive both ways if you're quick enough). The Junker Congress... Well, you know.
I can't think of any problematic bases that aren't owned by an official faction, in fact.

Yeah, but all the calls for getting rid of PoBs certainly screw over us factions who have actually gone to great lengths to make our base RP solid, and jumped through everyone else's bureaucratic hoops to have our base and not make it troublesome.
I'm not trying to toot my own faction's horn here, but Oceana has never seemed to be a problem to anyone, nor have I heard any real complaints (other than folks accidentally approaching the turrets when base was not open dock) . Maybe the rest could learn by Gateway's example. The bases themselves aren't the problem. It's the lolwuts who want to do their own thing and screw everyone else.
There needs to be serious considerations that have to be taken by a player before deciding to place a POB. Right now people can just place them anywhere with little or no consequences. Spam a few weapons platforms and then whoever disagrees with the base has to summon an armada bigger than is usually logged into the server to destroy it.
We have plenty of options and have laid all of them on the table in the development and presumably the administration chats. Discussion is ongoing to figure out which is the best and least damaging option.
Just because you don't see something happening doesn't mean it's not happening.
Maybe what is going on in the back room should be a little more visible to the users so they know that they are not ignored and that some is evaluating each solution.
Sometimes we have no ideea what you guys are up to so people take up the initiative to do something which maybe you already did....
I think transparency would be easier to accomplish if the community as a whole didn't give off the impression that they don't actually care what we're doing as long as it gives them a reason to whine about how bad we are.

It doesn't matter if someone's in the same system as the POB or if there isn't a single person online -- that's 84 instances of POBs ranging from core 1 to core 4, each doing a whole set of stuff, each adding to the server load, each increasing lag a tiny bit.
This is wrong and harmful to the server.
Something needs to be done about this.
EDIT: Something that doesn't involve deleting a potentially cool feature like POBs altogether.
EDIT2: As of 3pm pacific time on January 19th, there are now 85 POBs up.
I agree with you I dock and when I go back on-line POP! there is a private base at the front door. I received a message from the admins they are looking into this deeply and they understand the concerns people are posting I think they created a Frankenstein without knowing it. The best thing to do honestly is continue to post to admin. A signature form would work well to let them know it's a serious matter. I stand by ya stay strong.
