A fully geared BS costs ~1.6, and let's say we go with your suggestion and make a fully geared bomber cost 250 mils. Then you'll have to make a thread similar to this one, complaining about how your 250mil worth of caprape is easily killed by an unarmored fighter that barely costs even 4 millions. See where I'm going with this?
Another side of the multi-sided coin of SpazzySuggestions™, lets say I'm a poor sod who cant be bothered with trading. I've been here long enough to know the ropes, but only made 500 mills durin my whole time here. I used that 500 mils to buy 10 bombers cause I thought they're ultimate killing machines, but they've been sitting there gathering dust since I realized fighters are better for what I want to use them for and used the rest of my cash to buy a few fighters. Now I can easily sell those 10 bombers of mine and make 2.5 billions and be a rich bastard. Life's supposed to be cruel, not generous.

This is a game.

How about we just have 3 tiers of ships (and price them accordingly)?
1. The practically free tier and
2. The ships that cost credits tier and
3. Special ships
Tier 1 - basic tool of rp and basic pews - can be set up by anyone within a day and still be competitive with ships of its class, eg any LF/HF/Freightor
Tier 2 - ships that are still free (as in freedom) for anyone to set up, but cost credits to purchase and/or operate and the only way you can possibly have such credits is to be on the server for a while, ensuring that these advantageous ships will not fall into the hands of new players since newbs aint got dough. examples will include bombers, 5kers and low level caps
Tier 3 - Anything that requires official clearance (eg faction member or SRP) to use. Battleships, certain faction ships, anything considered OP.
Make them harder to kill, buff armor, buff weapons.
That way it will take 2 bombers a long time to blast caps, and caps will be able to take pob's easier.

The balance is completely fine for what we have now. Remember we shouldn't just be factoring the ships themselves but the people flying the ship on the other side of the screen.

The joy of being forced to fork over billions upon billions to set up a dozen bombers - that are pretty much mandatory because capital ships are spammed by everyone - for various factions.

In the end everything will cost billions in your logic.
Keep bomber prices as is. The snac could be double the current price, considering it's damage output. Nova torpedoes could be more expensive as well.
BSes are vulnerable, not so much due to RL analogs (naval history), but in order to balance pvp: one player shouldn't be able to juggernaut his/her way through a fight, just because they're able to trade more.
That said, BS prices should be dropped by a third, considering the vessel's inherent weaknesses. And reverting back to free hardpoints would be spiffy too.
I didn't read all posts here,
but bombers are supose to kill caps.
For me is more out of balance that bombers can kill fighters,
and actual speed of bombers.
But perhapse you are right they should be more expensive.
Also they should be bigger, currently they are just little bigger ( if any bigger?) than fighters. I suppose double of fighter size would be more suitable for them than current size.
