I don't think the pirate ID is bad...I use it a lot but I pick a house to stay in when I make the char.
And how is it different from the Freelancer ID? I mean that to has no ZOI and can jump into almost any fight....
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT I SAID, IT MATTERS WHAT I MEANT!!!!

Pirates are not OP. You say Lythrilux it is? I recommend to look more close to other factions. See k'hara with an unlimited zoi one you are in too. They have ship classes till battleships AND can infinite cloak, see wilde who goes till cruiser.. Both can engage any target as they do please. Pirates must make a demand, still they can get TILL gunboat. I remember storks of jack here passing by when i played.. All cau8.. Now with the new 'Balance' they are almost imbeatable. Not to talk about the battle transports. I see why DiscoveryPTC made their own version. Because it lacks a whole bunch on GC. But still ok pirates..
Pirates must act in groups of at least 2 or more.. Without that they are just targets for so called ganksquads. Nothing good nor bad with it, but do not forget they cannot do massive damage. Also the pirate id is rephacked red to almost every faction there is. They can dock on a little and when they do pirate in houses (or old systems like tau 29 with the nice npc spawn) they get their asses kicked.
Balance people..
Please learn to read my post correctly.
I am a huge Piracy fan, but only of variety that aren't generic terrorists.
And don't compare the Pirate ID to the K'hara ID. The K'hara are a closed and regulated faction. If you had people in K'hara pulling the same stuff as indie pirates... Oh wait, you don't. Because the two factions are entirely different in their goals, their RP and their purpose. K'hara are meant to be shooting things. Pirates are meant to be, well, pirating.
If you should be pirating in groups, join a NPC faction. I die a little inside each time I see a Pirate ID using faction tech.
And the more pirate rephacks the better. I hate seeing pirates dock at Junker bases, only to shoot me moments later.
However, discussions such as these do take a toll on my RP heart. Players such as Wraga provide wonderful indie pirate RP that is a joy to find. It's just a shame stuff like that is undermined by the actions of other indie pirates.
I do not agree that the pirate ID is overpowered or should be removed, particularly not with the new ID wording from .87.
The pirate ID is probably the only one that did not change at all, while corporates, unlawfuls and freelancers received far more lax engagement rules. Yes, there's no ZOI restriction, but in terms of technology usage, rephacks, and ID text it's nowhere near as good as a non-generic unlawful ID.
Finally, I think it's important to have the opportunity to make a pirate not aligned with any particular faction - an unlawful freelancer. Sometimes it's simply not fitting for a character to join an unlawful faction, and since due to balance reasons the freelancer ID cannot commit piracy, the ID is needed.
Edit: For the record, I'd say the average encounter with generic ID'd pirates results in more RP than unlawful faction ID'd pirates.
Just on average, of course. Both have good and bad ones.

You know, it's funny, because in my time here I've seen just as much of that from faction IDs as I have from generic. Lane Hackers seem rather prone to it (not referring to recent issues), but it's also happened with Outcasts.
But no, it's cool, let's just nerf whatever we don't like.

More in line with the lore of the game. But that would just bring back freelancer iff pirate id problem. You wouldn't know who is a pirate. And the freelancer ID would just replace all other ID's altogether.

Pirates should be Freelancers in disguise. And the Freelancer ID already has replaced all other "Freelancer" IDs, except for said Pirate ID, which should first have the terrorist-ish touch removed and then being merged with the Freelancer ID, in my opinion.
