So, recently I've been playing alot of STO and I've ranked my self up to vice Admiral by doing alot of those story mission (which are interesting). I currently have a Federation Char with a Multi Attack vector ship (without the multi attack bit ). I'm using 4 tetryon cannons (no dual) at the front combined with 4, 27% extra fire power for tetryon weapon tactile consoles. I have a cloaking teactor mine and 2 phasers on the aft.
So what I'm wondering is, who else plays? And any tips and suggestions for a tactical officer?
What put me off of the game was the Land Battle aspect of some of the story lines. Tweaking out the ships and the overall game play was interesting and fun, the GRIND to level up got boring.
I didn't find it much of a grind because i enjoyed playing the story. Yes, the story and -how it works- gets boring (as in the kill some stuff in space, then beam to the ground, then beam back up and kill more) but you can make things fun out of it. Obviously everyone wants to be rank 50 (which i've only just got too) But there are some pretty awesome stuff for the lower ranks
I was extremely dissappointed by STO. Not open ended enough, too many people starting out with the exact same ship. Its also too 'stage' oriented with how the areas work and how you travel among them. Star Trek brings so much potential for an MMORPG but STO does not even come close to doing it justice. This game felt more like and arcade game to me than an rpg.

I only play it on occasion as I much prefer the crowd here. As Unforgiven said, I don't think it's open ended enough.
My profiles: U.S.S. MacDonough, commanded by Admiral Roden
Various Klingon ships, commanded by Korg-Son-of-Remik
I also have a Romulan that I can't remember the name of. Yeah, it's been awhile for that one.

I've been playing STO since it went free-to-play, and I now have 6 characters; 2 Fed, 2 KDF, 2 Rom. Personally, I've come to quite enjoy the game, but in order to avoid getting bored, it's good to either take breaks from STO periodically, or try something completely different (eg. if you're bored of rep grinding, check out some Foundry missions). While the levelling content can be fun the first time through, once you're at level 50 - the endgame - that's where the bulk of the players and content can be found.
The MVAE is a decent escort. However, you're doing your own damage output a disservice by mounting single cannons fore, and by mixing damage type with Phaser. Consider running a Dual Beam Bank, Cannon, and two Dual Cannons fore. Cheap Mk XI [Acc] weapons from the exchange work just fine in PvE. Send me a PM if you would like build suggestions/advice.
Is there an RP between players ?
How frequently do you find another players in space ?

rp is inter or intra fleet. Though ..oddly lately more klingon sided folks rp it seems.
tons of people in space. tons. alot of pvp and cooperative stuff to play.
IM STILL HOLDING ONTO THE DAMN REMANATS OF THE DISCO FLEET until all the disco players kinda left. we got a tier 3 starbase we kinda plug away on. let me know if you want in! the fleet store has good weapons.
